Indian Railways Station Codes

On many sites, the IR station names are no longer spelled out, instead are listed in three or four letter codes. Similar to the airlines.

Where can one find a listing of the IR station codes??

I scanned the 3 pages of codes from 'Trains At A Glance', I find it easier to use as it only lists more popular/usefull station codes.

Since you mentioned airlines, you may have already seen http://www.world-airport-codes.com/ which lists IATA airport codes.

I never realized that `Trains at a Glance' had this information. It is also available in PDF at the official `Trains at a Glance' Web site, http://www.indianrailways.gov.in/TAG...Code_Index.pdf

Not really (and these are both .pdf files, as a caution to people inadvertently clicking them). The official one will change yearly yes, as long as it does; it can simply be found via http://www.indianrailways.gov.in/ (under >Time Table Info > TAG).

The Geocities one seems to be some copy, last time I checked it still had last year's. That's good as an alternative backup, but it's not necessarily up-to-date (the detailed differences may be minimal however). It's available in HTML (or the intro in any case) here btw http://in.geocities.com/trainsataglance/ .

Yes, that looks like a better, if somewhat verbose, way to point to the location of the document. I wish Webmasters, especially those of important sites like that of the Indian Railways, would follow Tim Berners-Lee's recommendations in Cool URIs don't change. Among other things, he advocates, for information that changes with time, a "latest" URL that points to the most recent version.

Where I can find station names in Hindi स्टेशनों के नाम हिन्दी में कहाँ से मिलेंगे?

Very good question really. Does anyone know if there are sites that allow you to do this?

While reading a name written in Enlish it is almost impossible for a person to pronounce/understand it's exact orginal prounciation. For example BANGALORE is being read as

बेंगलोर
बांगलोर
बांगालोरे
बंगालोरे
बंगलोर
बैंगलोर
बान्गालोर
बान्गालोरे

whereas now public agitations/movemets are going on to rename back it to rightly as
बॆंगळूरु

So it is neccessary to right names of Persons and Places in Devanagari Script.
