i need info on taking my lil pet with me from bangalore to goa!

Hi All,

I have a 3 months old pug puppy, and i wish to take her with me this christmas holidays to goa, by rail.

I was told that i can carry my pet with me in 1ac or 1st class only but trains from bangalore to goa do not have these classes. there is only 3ac and 2ac.

i just do not want to leave her in the last luggage break van as the condition is very bad and she a pup and i cannot leave her alone.( cos anyone can rob her too):-(

kindly suggest me options to take my lil cheri to goa via rail as i cannot afford flight.

Thanks and regards:-)

If the puppy is small and well behaved, consider putting her in a basket after sedating her. Other passengers should not object, else you will not be allowed to take the pup.

My information is dated, btw, and I have always travelled with pets in 1AC.

PS: Err, multiple posts are not allowed here. Besides, they are confusing

Find the Indian Railways luggage rules including for pets here: http://www.indianrail.gov.in/rules_for_luggage.html.

For what remains unclear, consider strolling over to your nearest railway station and making enquiries there, I'm sure they'd be willing to inform you (or give them a call?)

Unless you and your fellow travellers occupy an entire cubicle (4 or 2 people), pets will be not allowed if fellow passengers object.

Sedating is not dangerous if on advise from a vet. We have sedated pets for other reasons- eg, cat thinks its a tiger whenever it visits the vet. Unbelievable hissing and attacking, except me

tell them it is an "American Dog", I kid you not. I bought a dog in Dargheling to bring back to Kashmir where I lived and the conductor said "dogs are not allowed on trains", but it is ok if it is an "American", I lied and said yes. UNBELIEVABLE", but true.
Sincerely, Gypsie

Be careful with the sedation of a puppy, I would not do that. It is not a good practice.
Sincerely, Gypsie
PS: and especially a pug they are small to begin with.

:-( im unable to go to the railways as really bussy with work . hopefully will get some time over the weekend to inquire about the same.

But does anyone have experience of taking a dog in 2ac or 3ac without ticket ? have you been fined and if so how much would i be fined for taking a dog in any other class. what is the exact amount ? 9 every where it says 6 times the luggage value or something like that) so what is theis amount i would be fined incase i had to take my little puppy

My pug is really small and very well behaved sleeps half the time and loves sitting on my lap so she would not cause much of a nuisance.

Some one please reply as to how much would i be fined for taking my pug with me in 2ac or 3ac.

thanks and Regards
Jo

? You posted the original question on Oct. 13th. It must have struck you before that.

It is now Nov. 13th where I am. Indian train stations and notably the main ones keep really quite extensive opening hours. (As noted above, I'm sure they have telephones too.)

You must be really busy, eh?

(Look, what the hell is it to me really. But it sometimes strikes me as funny with Indian members on this board yes* that instead of following the obvious route of making local enquiries, they go through the effort of finding a forum, signing up, filling in a profile, preferably come up with a cute signature and font and whatnot, instead.)

One thing I don't know but think btw is to take the brat just like that and with no ticket would be ill-advised. And as far as I know with dog or any other rules anywhere else, it being cute and small and well-behaved or not or whatever will be of not the slightest consequence, or certainly not if you run into the wrong ticket inspector and/or co-passengers.

* Nothing specifically Indian about it though, I suppose people worldwide are forgetting about phones and a personal visit and stuff. It's a little crass to be reminded of it though and then come back a month later saying you haven't had the time. You don't know anyone who does either one presumes?
