Can you please suggest the best route to travel from hyderabad to bareilly. Do i need to change trains in delhi?

No direct trains connecting those places. You can break at Delhi. See the train options below:

1st Leg = Hyderabad/Secunderabad/Kacheguda (HYB/SC/KCG) to Delhi (NDLS/NZM)

##The next available train to BE is 2392 Shramjeevi Express which departs from NDLS at 13.15 hrs. and arrives in BE at 17.20hrs.

##So, you will be saving 100 minutes and 200Kms., if you use 2723/4313 weekly connection.:-)

VSP, any idea if the metre gauge trains still run from Mathura (Jn) to Bareilly? (they used to run from Agra)

I just checked on erail but couldn't find any up to Bareilly or Lal kual, but they were still running last year.

Train enthusiasts from the UK looking for mg alco action, were planning a all MG trip doing the MG lines in the north east and then taking on the NER network. Unfortunatley their plans ran to a roadblock when I told them that the bareilly mathura section is now truncated. If you really wanted to do MG then you would have to go to kasgunj[a station that had 2 mg platforms and a bg line to Kanpur or {cawnpore! for twisting the word around a bit} with its train made mg look like a midget] from mathura and then take the mg trains which might not be running because conversion is underway.

##However, MG Trains are "still" running between Barielly and Kasganj. Please have look at the schedule of 5315:

Dear Khak,

The Train departs 4724 Kalindi Express departs from Bhiwani which is in BG; passes through New Delhi which is in BG; passes through Shikohabad which is in BG. The Shikohabad-Kanpur Central had been converted into BG.

##Since Kalindi runs between Bhiwani and Kanpur via Shikohabad, Farukhabad, I thought you would conclude that SKB-FBD-CNB had moved into BG.:-)

##By the way, Shikohabad and Kanpur are on Main Line. Please look at the schedule of 3112:
