Hyderabad - Jaipur

friend of mine has to be in Jaipur on the 23rd of June. There are direct trains only twice a week and they are full.

Can someone please suggest alternate routes? How about Hyd-Mumbai-Jaipur? What do you think is the best alternate route by train?

Can you please also suggest good accomodation in Jaipur? I think aircon is a necessity. Any suggestions where typical Rajastani food is served?

Since he will be there only for a week, what are the must see places? How far is Pushkar from Jaipur?

The Mumbai option,

3 daily trains a day from Hyderabad to Mumbai CST,

Train 1020, Secunderabad 11:40, Mumbai CST 04:15.
Train 7002, Hyderabad 14:30, Mumbai CST 05:25.
Train 7032, Hyderabad 20:40, Mumbai CST 13:35.

Mumbai to Jaipur,

Train 2979 departs Bandra (Mon, Thurs, Sat) at 15:50 and gets to Jaipur at 11:15.

Train 2955 departs Mumbai Central Daily at 18:50, gets to Jaipur at 12:45.

Train 9007 departs Bandra Daily at 21:00, gets to jaipur at 19:25.

A quick alternative,

Train 7050 departs Secunderabad (daily) at 22:45 and gets to Warangal at 01:05.

Train 2967 departs Warangal in the early hours of Wed, Sat and Mondays at 03:57 and gets to Jaipur at 06:35 the next day.

It's the same timings as the train you had tried to get from Secunderabad, but this train starts in Chennai and goes via Vijayawada.

Alternatively, you can go via Agra Cantt, Surat, Purna, Ahmedabad, but all of these alternatives will take 12 - 24 hours longer, often with poor connections.

All of the above trains have 2A, 3A and Sleeper class (no 3A on 7050)

Check the Jasvilas recommendation for a great place to stay in Jaipur.

The owners of Jasvilas will advice you about great places to see around Jaipur.

Pushkar is about 3.5 hours by bus from Jaipur.
