The amount of wait-listed ticket would automatically be deposited in your account.
You need not do anything except wait & watch.

Thankyou,
But how many days to wait for. Do I need to file TDR? Because there is 30 days time only for TDR filing.

I had two waitlisted tickets (to & fro) last week. One was waitlisted in general and another in tatkal. I did not file any TDR and have received my refunds for both the tickets. I got SMS from IRCTC for the same after 3 days.

So, you should have received an SMS and refund by now. Please contact IRCTC.

No refund at all on any part of the ticket. This is a partially confirmed Tatkal ticket and as far as the railways are concerned the passengers could have still travelled on the train. It is the passengers who chose to cancel, not the railways. Remember, Tatkal is fully non refundable unless the Railways is at fault.

Yes, I did mistake in looking into the scenario!

The Refund Rules of IRCTC says under heading "Part confirm/RAC/Waiting List"

Quote:
  • If on one PNR there is more than one passenger and one passenger is having confirmed/RAC status and rest is on waiting list or vice-versa, names of all the passengers booked on such PNR will appear in the chart.
  • A certificate can be obtained from the Ticket Checking staff in the train regarding non-travelling of wait-listed passengers on such tickets. Refund will be processed through TDR refund only after receiving the original certificate. IRCTC will forward the claim to Concerned Railways along with original certificate to process the refund and money of refund amount will be credited back to same account through which payment was made after receiving the same from the concerned Railways.
  • If all such passengers do not want to travel before chart preparation, online cancellation can be done as at present. However, after chart preparation, online request can be sent to IRCTC through TDR refund for seeking refund. IRCTC will forward the claim to Concerned Railways to process the refund and money of refund amount will be credited back to same account through which payment was made after receiving the same from the concerned Railways.

TDR is to be filed and refund will be granted only for the waitlisted passenger.
IR may challenge the process if TTE has marked the WL'ed passenger present onboard. In that case, a suitable evidence has to be presented (Certificate from SM or any other authentic proof) supporting the same.

Refund = Fare for WL'ed passenger - Clerkage Charges - Service Tax on Clerkage Charges.

IRCTC Service Charges will not be refunded. Bank/Payment Gateway Charges may or may not be refunded.

Please see Clause 3.5: Refund on Tatkal tickets of Revised Refund Rules w.e.f. 01.07.2013 of Indian Railways.

It says:
Quote:
3.5 Refund on Tatkal tickets:
  • No refund of fare shall be admissible on confirmed Tatkal ticket.
  • In case of Tatkal ticket on waitlist, refund of fare shall be granted in accordance with rule for unused waitlisted or RAC tickets.
  • In case on a party Tatkal ticket or a family Tatkal ticket issued for travel for more than one person, some persons have confirmed reservation and others are on waiting list, full refund of fare, less clerkage, shall be admissible for confirmed passengers also provided that the entire Tatkal ticket is surrendered for cancellation within six hours before the scheduled departure of the train or upto two hours of the actual departure of the train.
At another place the website says:
Quote:
No refund will be granted on cancellation of confirmed Tatkal tickets/duplicate tatkal ticket except in case of circumstances mentioned in para 2 of instructions contained in Commercial Circular no. 53 of 2006 issued vide letter no. 2006/TGII/ 20/P/Tatkal, dated 30.06.2006. However, full refund of fare and tatkal charges will be granted on the tickets booked under Tatkal scheme in the following circumstances :-
  • If the train is delayed by more than 3 hours at the journey originating point of the passenger & not the boarding point if the passenger's journey originating point and boarding point are different.
  • If the train is to run on a diverted route and passenger is not willing to travel.
  • If the train is to run on diverted route and boarding station or the destination or both the stations are not on the diverted route.
  • In case of non attachment of coach in which Tatkal accommodation has been earmarked and the passenger has not been provided accommodation in the same class.
  • If the party has been accommodated in lower class and does not want to travel. In case the party travels in lower class, the passenger will be given refund of difference of fare and also the difference of Tatkal charges, if any.
