How to get from Cochin to Mysore?

Please advise if there are any direct buses/trains from Cochin to Mysore. If so, please advise frequency as well as how long this journey is.

There is a direct Bus for sure.

I am sure there is train also. In case there is no train, then, u can get to Bangalore from cochin, and then proceed to Mysore.

You can consider going via Coimbatore and take the old steamtrain to Ooty, it's a fun trip. From Ooty there is a direct bus to Mysore.
I don't know if there is a direct bus, but I guess it would take quite a while, cause I already had to travel 5 or 6h from Ooty to Mysore ...

Lonelyaztec & Ericd, thank you both for your quick replies. I will definately take both options into consideration. Regarding the bus option, do you know the approx time of journey? Also, is it an over night or day service?
With regards to going via Coimbatore, onto OOty & then Mysore, would you take bus or train to Coimbatore? How long is this journey & would I have to spend a night in Coimbatore or can I proceed direct to OOty via Toy Train on arrival in Coimbatore?

There used to be an overnight Volvo service. Costed Rs. 500 about two years back.
