How to Change wagon and seat number??
Hello everyone
We 5 friends are travelling via train from jaipur to kannur
One of my friend has got a different seat/wagon like
we have got S1 wagon and he has got S7 wagon
So my query is...
Is there any way that we can change his seat number?
How and when it could be done?
since its a long journey
regards

Parru,
The ticket-examiner (TTE) will expect everyone to be in their assigned seat when he checks the tickets.
But India, as you know, doesn't work like that. Basically, people try to go and sit in their assigned seat when the TTE comes through, and during other times they move around, especially if they've been separated from their friends. Sometimes you can arrange to switch with someone - or just squeeze in. It's all about territory, though, and you'll have to negotiate.
You can move between bogies (wagons) if the doors are opened and the passage is clear, but note that this isn't always the case.
Your success in all of this will depend a lot on the character of your TTE. The rule of the Indian Railways, though, is that the TTE is always right. Most of them are decent guys. I once got double-booked and didn't have a place to sleep, and the TTE let me "rent" his berth for a small amount of money.

So,The TTE could do the deal?
Isn't there any other way?Like if we all could make our seat change?(by asking some known person from railways)
Because the major problme would come at the time of sleeping..!!
Anyway...still thanks for the info

Presumably you got different carriages because you booked at different times, or because there were no seats left.
If there are still plenty of seats left, you could try booking new tickets on the same booking and cancelling the tickets you have. The cancellation fees are miminal.

[b]We gave a thought to this option...
But above option is nearly not possible
because we took tickets on "student concession"
and there are loads of formalities for this
It took 3 hours to get tickets from reservation counter
So it will be really dificult for us to get tickets again like this

The problem will be accomodating all of your group if the train is full - which it probably is if you had to be split up like that. The TTE, however, might be able to find a group of comparable size that will be willing to switch with you, or a group of individuals. If there are ladies involved, it will be easier. If you're all guys, it might be more difficult to win the TTEs sympathy.
I don't suggest trying to get this sorted out ahead of time at the station, unless you love aggravation, because all they're going to do is say, "No." Especially since you are holding quota tickets. It's much better to sort these problems out on the train.

I think so too.
I would think this way about it: the booking system did not split you guys up for fun, it split you up because there was not a big enough block to accommodate you all. Moving your one friend now, will involve disturbing somebody else. Moving them will involve... and so on.
Be glad you are all on the same train! It would be a much bigger problem if one ticket was still waitlisted!
You can ask the TTE. You can ask individual passengers, if the coaches are near --- but do not be too disappointed if you don't get anywhere.

Dear parru2810,
##2810 is the number of HWH-CSTM Mail.:-)
##I assume you are travelling by either 2308 or Marudhar. Had you mentioned your Date of Journey, perhaps it would have enabled me to conclude whether you are taking any weekly.
##Since you are travelling upto Kanpur, please select that passenger who is also travelling alone and who is also travelling either upto Kanpur or to any station short of Kanpur, so that your exchange part would get easier.

Dear Parru2810,
I am sorry for the 'slip'.
---------
If you are travelling upto CAN, perhaps there should NOT be a problem in finding an individual who is travelling alone!!!
----
In any case, let the passenger so selected get his ticket checked by the TTE of S1.
....
Then, let your friend get his ticket checked by the TTE of S-7
---
##After this, the swapping can take place.
