It's possible something screwed up during the transaction. By all accounts, refunds for unbooked seats will be promptly made (may take a few days internationally I guess).
I think you need to give some more details for anyone to detailedly answer you.

It isn't in booked tickets at the moment, it's in refunds. It say's 'settlement requested' and then when you click for detail it says 'Payment Not Received From Bank'...but my bank say the money has been taken...
I'm a bit worried if I try to rebook it, it will either fail again, or I'll end up having paid for it twice, and the first payment will just be taken and nothing to show for it...
I've tried e-mailing them, but no response as yet.

I'm sure this isn't the reason, but others may have a similar worry.
When you book in First Class (both air con and non air con), you only get CNF on your ticket, no carriage or berth details.
CNF = confirmed, berths allocation for First Class happens when the reservation chart is prepared (only hours before the train departs).

In answer to my question, the limit clearly isn't 10 anymore, as I managed to book the ticket this morning...I've booked 14 in the last week.
The refunds section now says refunded, so hopefully I will receive that soon.
Anyone else have more trouble with one bank than another? AXIS seems fairly reliable.

Even I faced the same problem as mandycc yesterday. The amount was debited from my account but the ticket was not booked. I mailed them and received a reply today about reconciliation and refunding it back in such a case. @mandycc: Where in your profile did you find the message about the refund ?
If you look down the side of the page at the left, it says 'refund status' under the 'my transactions' section . Click on failed transactions, and then it lists all of ones that had a problem going through.
One of mine I did last week says 'Payment settled'. I rang my credit card company and it is indeed refunded...strangely I made a profit of £1.47 because of the exchange rate!
I haven't heard about the transaction this thread is about, but it is saying on IRCTC something about the transaction failing, and my CC company says it is still pending, but if they don't take it in 4 days it will drop off and won't appear on my statement.
They do seem quite efficient in giving a refund.

Thy will be quick in the refund..nd u seem to hav made even a profit out of it
...thy were very assuring in the mail thy sent to me and the reply too was prompt...btw was the remark 'settlement requested' turned to 'Payment settled' in your profile ?

This seems to confirm then what I'd mentioned before, but didn't want to repeat as I've never done it myself:By all accounts here, refunds in case of faulty transactions will actually be promptly and automatically made, without any action taken on your part (again, this may take a few days to process I guess, or certainly internationally). I have never read here of this going wrong. So I guess this is what you were looking at in your first post that I quoted. Glad it's been resolved

Again, from reports here, it seems that it works differently for everyone. It doesn't seem to be a clear-cut case of card X from country Y working well with payment method Z; or at least, there are too many variables in the equation & I've never noticed much rhythm nor rhyme to it. So apparently you'll just need to toggle around the site's "payment gateway" (as people call it -- again, I've never had to do it myself yet) to find out what works for you. Provided you use one card/banking network that they accept in the first place of course, I'm sure they list those.btw Re:

Is that excluding those failed bookings, i.e., 14 successful bookings? That would be news to people here I guess. I think I also read here recently about 1 booking for several people at once still counting as 1 booking.Oh ps Umang, can you please write in plain English, not SMS/text speak, which many people here won't understand.
