2A = 4 (inside lower berths)
3A = 6-8 (side lower berths)
SL = 8-12 (side lower berths)

In all the above classes, 1 lower (or side lower) berth is used as seats instead of berths, 1 berth = 2 RAC seats.

These numbers and seat/berth locations are for normal ICF coaches, it may be different in the larger LHB coaches.

I've seen 10 in Sleeper Class many times, and the reservation charts I used to have actually had 12 in all Sleeper Class carriages and 8 in 3A (Darjeeling Mail).

Thumbs up Number of RAC seats in 3A

Since I am about to travel to Indore and my ticket status changed from W/L 1 to RAC 28 and my cousins W/L 2 changed to W/L 1, I conclude as follows:

There are 28 RAC seats in 3A for Avantika express (Mumbai-Indore), which has 5 3A coaches, so there are about 3 RAC seats per coach (6 passengers).
The number of RAC seats will be more in Sleeper Class and lesser for 2A and the least in 1A.

Cheers!

The only time I've noticed RAC in FC they used the first 4-berth cabin, the 2 lower berths.

It's not the kind of thing I used to look out for.

Can any members get hold of actual reservation charts? I used to have a few, but lost them.

I've got the reservation chart for the Bagh Express in a document, but can't seem to upload it, but unfortunately it doesn't have the most interesting pages, the WL/RAC pages.
