How long should i wait???
Hi all,
As per the irctc norms any e-ticket booked on tatkal basis, if it is not confirmed when the chart is prepared means that it is automatically cancelled and the money will be credited back to the bank account no from which it was actually booked. My question is how long will i have to wait till the money gets credited back into my account. I had originally booked an e-ticket on 2-tier AC for Bangalore mail(2657) in tatkal for which the status was W/L 8 after chart preparation and the date of journey was 22-08-2010. Kindly enlighten me on this issue anyone.
Thanks in advance

The ticket refund status should show in the "Cancelled Transactions" section after you login to IRCTC with your User ID and password.
Typically I have seen that 3-4 working days it takes to process the refund. I think you would get an automated mail as well indicating the cancellation/refund (not sure when or if in both the cases).
You may also send a mail to IRCTC helpline.
Do let us know when you get the money back.

If my understanding is correct, IRCTC have to wait till they get confirmation that the ticket wasn't used, they get this confirmation from the adjusted reservation chart that the TTE uses on the train.
Some people turn up at the train even if they have a low waitlist number, and sometimes the TTE can fit them in, it's a big gamble, but this is why we have to wait a few days for refunds.

Dear all,
Thank you all for your replies. I am waiting hopefully with my fingers crossed. Only few minutes back i logged into my irctc page and checked the pnr status of my ticket and there was a positive sign indicating that my status of W/L 8 was changed to as CAN/MOD which means they are working on something there, which i hope is the refunding of my cash

Thanks & regards

If it is an e-ticket then the amount will reflect in your account in the next 3-4 working days. You will also receive an email on the account registered with irctc.co.in

Ask you bank with the refund details given by IRCTC. As I have mentioned somewhere else in another post, it is the banking channel (or card company) that delays crediting the moneys in most cases. Thanks. I gave my bank the details of the transaction (Canara Bank) and they checked with their head office where all the money is received and they also had not received the money as yet.
I had used axis bank gateway on the irctc website while booking the ticket. So is this the reason why its taking time?
What else can I do?
Regards

Was this from/to an Indan Bank or India issued card account. If yes, it should be easier. Respond to IRCTC saying the Bank has confirmed in no uncertain terms that they have not received the refund. And to recheck at their end who or where the amount has disappeared.

Yes, I used Canara Bank debit card to buy the ticket. So its Indian with the branch in Jaipur.I did tell them in "no uncertain terms" that i have not received the refund. So now they have mailed me back asking me for my account statement as proof, which I have sent.
Hopefully they will resolve the matter soon

Just to add, if IRCTC is claiming that they have refunded and your bank claims they have not, it is for the bank and IRCTC to figure out where the money went. Chase the bank, they need to resolve it with IRCTC.
