is there a train from Hospet to Bangalore that would allow a decent connection for Mysore the same day?

Bangalore> Mysore you can travel by bus aslo, if train is not available immly . Every 20 minutes or so a bus leaves for mysore. Travel time appx 3+hr.

Take an AC or Delux bus. Avoid the 'Mysore Mallige 180' as it is cramped , though travels exactly by 180 minutes!

The bus station is just opposite to the Bangalore City railwaystation. You can walk across. Just cross the road (use the subway at the entrance of the station) in front of the Rly stn, you are at the bus station. Then take the flyover to reach the far end of the 'Mysore Bus stand'

T means Tatkal Quota ..... (tatkal means on the spot) available only on the previous day ONLY from the originating station to the final station to persons holding a valid photo-id. As a foreigner, you will get from the foreigner quota ..... it is unlikely that you will ever require the tatkaal quota. The Tatkaal is just one more bogie (compartment) attached to the same train. The difference it makes to us Indians is that in Sleeper Class (tatkaal bogie)there is less of encroachment from itinerant travellers who do not have a reservation and have boarded the "reserved"compartment illegally. Ticket Checkers continuously come to check all the tickets in the Tatkal compartment cuz they stand to make some extra money. (Your id number is mentioned on the ticket and is tallied with the actual id physically. Many Indians do not carry the id .... and end up paying the Ticket checker)

As a foreigner, you need not bother abt Tatkal quota.

thanks poster #2 (made a note of the Bus info but was just a bit afraid to use the Indian busses even though it is a private one). I heard that they drive like crazy.

thanks Poster #3 but Poster #1 indicated that the trains I might be taking to make the connections from Hospet to Mysore were T trains?

T... = Train.

I'm just too lazy to type the whole word.

For Bangalore –Mysore, you don’t require a reservation to travel in an inter-city train. You can buy a ticket directly from the local counter also. But there are not too many express trains running between these two places as compared to buses.

The buses are not all that dangerous in this part, they are all KSRTC run, cheap and offers a no-nonsense bus service.

Question Train nos appearing twice

Here is a train listed twice, one with a "T'. one without. Check out the link. here it clearly means "Tatkal" Quota Bogie. I know you dont make mistakes Steven, maybe its a communication gap or misunderstanding..... here the "T" appears after, not before. The ambiguity is created when coconut_wireless saw the same numbered train appear twice, one with 'n one without the "T". The example link : 6530 and 6530T Udyan Express :

Click on the link and fill in the train no as .... 6530 then "get it" Or any train no which has two optoins.... one with a T & one without a T

OK I GUESS I didn't make myself very clear. I want a direct train from Hospet to Mysore and the only train I found to Mysore was this one making a connection in Hubli JN: Has anyone out there taken the 7225 or ifamilar with Hubli JN??? Have no clue where that is?
Departing Hospet Jn on Wed Duration is 13 hrs 40 min Distance is 613 Kms
Train Train name From To Departure Arrival
7225 Vijayawada Hubli Amravati Express HOSPET JN HUBLI JN 08:50 11:35
1035 Mumbai Mysore Sharavathi Express HUBLI JN MYSORE JN 14:20 22:20
Distance 594 km; 2A = Rs 961

The other option was this train:
Train No. Train Name Origin Dep.Time Destination Arr.Time Days Of Run
2007 SHATABDI EXP *BANGALORE CY JN (SBC) 11:00 MYSORE JN 13:00
Classes 1AC Runs: Tue-Sat
but no ongoing connection to Mysore the same day. So it is the 7225 with a long lay over in in Hubli and arrive Mysore at night(not crazy about that) or take the Shatabdi Exp and upon arrival in Bangalore take the bus as beach suggested or stay overnight in Bangalore?
Does that about sum it up?

CW, your still not making yourself very clear.

There is no direct train from Hospet to Mysore.

Do you want to do the journey by day?

Do you not want to go via Bangalore?

The last half of your message doesn't make sense, train 2007 is the Shatabdi from Chennai to Mysore via Bangalore (and runs every day except Tuesdays).

The trains I suggested in my first reply are faster than the Hubli option, they are also well timed and give additional options in case the first train runs late.

OOPS! My eyeball slipped the page!
I can take the
Train Train name Departure Arrival Duration Arrival CY JN(SBC)
6591 Hubli Bangalore Hampi Express 19:55 06:30+1 BANGALORE
10 hrs 40 min Runs Daily Fare: 856+25® =881x 2 =1762 Rps = $39.15 Class 2A
arriving 6:30 THE NEXT day and connect with any of these to Mysore:

Train No. Train Name Origin Dep.Time Destination Arr.Time Days Of Run
2007 SHATABDI EXP *BANGALORE CY JN (SBC) 11:00 MYSORE JN 13:00
Classes 1AC Runs: Tue-Sat

6218 SWARNA JAYANTHI *BANGALORE CY JN (SBC)08:45 MYSORE JN 11:45
Classes 2AC Runs: Wed only

2007 Bangalore 11:00, Mysore 13:00 (1A, CC)(not tuesdays)
the 6222 Bangalore 7:05 might be a little hard to make?

thanks for pointing my error out!
thats why they say two heads are better than one
