The best way to go by train from Hampi (Hospet is the nearest railway station) to Kerala is to go to Goa (Madgaon is the railway station) and then take another train to go to Aleppey.

I researched some of the options getting from Cochin (Kerala) to Hampi - I am assuming options are no different going the other way.

Unfortunately there are no direct trains from Hampi to Kerala ... the only option by train is a train from Hubli (about 3 hrs away from Hospet ) to Cochin .... that train runs only on Tuesday though...

the major travel points near Hampi are Hubli and Bangalore ...

There is a train from Hampi (Hospet) to Bangalore (every night) and a train from Bangalore to Cochin (www.irctc.co.in for details)

Also, there is a train from Ernakulam Town (Cochin) to Hubli that

Another way to go would be from Hampi to Goa and then Goa to Kerala ... There is a train that runs 4-5 days a week from Hospet to Vasco or Madgao and then you can get a train from Madgao to Kerala ....

In any case you are looking to spend a time in Goa or Banagalore...

On the other hand if you rather spend money than time ... then your best bet is to :

a. Get to Hubli and Fly out to South India via Bombay or Bangalore

b. Get to Bangalore and Fly to Cochin / Kerala - daily flights available ...
