Help!!! Train / bus connections...3 weeks to go

I want to go from Rishikesh to Pushkar, and I am thinking of taking a Flight from there (or around) to Delhi, and then taking a train or another plane to Ajmer. To reach Pushkar, the only I could found was by taking a bus from Ajmer, which I understood is quite time consuming and not for the faint at hart. From there I should head to Jodphur, Jaisalmer, Udaipur and maybe to Bikaner. My question is: given this itinerary, is there a more efficient way to reach Pushkar? How long does the bus journey takes from Ajmer to Pushkar? Does this bus journey so amazing as they say?





I am having some trouble to find a rail connection from Jodphur or Jaisalmer to Udaipur and from there to Mumbai and Panaji (which is my final destination). Can you help with this? How can I make the most efficient journey between these places, avoiding air travel?





I will arrive in India through Calcuta, in the morning and I intend to take a train to Varanasi in the evening, so I would like to have some recommendations on hotels with a clean western bathroom just to have a bath and rest a few hours

1. Ajmer is accessible from Delhi by train and the early morning superfast Shatabdi Express is very convenient.

2. Ajmer to Pushkar by bus is an approx. 30 min. journey. Do not know whether its amazing or not, as I've not travelled that route !

3. Jodhpur to Udaipur can be done by a direct bus (approx. 8 hours) or with a change of trains at Marwar Jn.

4. Udaipur to Mumbai can be done by a change of trains at Ahmedabad.
Mumbai to Panaji by direct train on the Konkan railway; the railway station for Panaji is Karmali, so don't waste your time looking for "Panaji" station on the IR network!
