Question Help reg. Kangra train ! i've read all old posts too

Hi All..
Here i am all eager to slog with the Kangra train until Baijnath paprola/jogindernagar but here's my problem.

I reach pathankot at 3:45 Am on coming saturday, 4th july.
I am with family and would have 3-4 big backpacks.
Wouldn't prefer for my family ( mom n dad) a jampacked train..

Heres what I got to know:
there is a train @2.40 am and another one @7 am . probably one at @4.30 am also . Its not fixed which train would get a FC - first class compartment but the time table says 2.40 one gets it...

This 2.40 one makes it to jawalajiroad station( 6 am ) , nagroti station @ 7.15 am..

has anybody lately travelled on this route ? to suggest if I should still run from pathankot to jawalajiroad on taxi to catch the 2.40 train ? All this to make sure the train is less crowded and we get FC if possible..
Or any other alternatives one could think of ??
I just don't wanna drop this rail out of my PLAN

Do chip in here
Sunny

I think you should board the train at the starting station : PTK and not enroute. Grab the best seats, whatever class and hour. I don't think reservations are possible on this route.

I've got no info with me at the moment, but I travelled this route last year and spoke to the staff (travelled in the engine for half the journey, very scary).

2 trains in either direction have First Class, I think it's the trains that go all the way to Jogindernagar, I seem to remember a 1 and a 5, so look at the timetable, the trains are maybe JP1 (Jog-Pathinkot 1) and JP 5, then look for the return journeys, maybe PJ2 and PJ6.

Sorry, that's a bit vague, if I had my timetable I could work it out, but I've just moved home and everything is nowhere to be found.
