Have you still got a train ticket?
Has anyone got a train ticket?
I am trying to do a new thread about the cost of tickets on Indian Railways, I've found so much conflicting information from Indian Railways that my head feels like it is spinning round. Has anyone got a recent ticket? If I can have some details from tickets purchased after 01st July, I can find out what I need to know. The information I would need to know is: - Train number, travelled from, travelled to, + total cost of ticket. Thanks in Advance. |

Thanks Vinay.
I had to laugh when I saw your reply; it's a great example of how difficult it can be to accurately work out fares on Indian Railways. The identical return train, again in Sleeper class, and between the same 2 stations, yet a different price.....hmmmm It would be boring if it was any other way, I wonder if anyone has any idea why the ticket prices are different? It reminds me of when I bought 2 omelettes at a station, "Rs25 sir" "Each !!" "no, all Rs25" "how?" "Rs25 sir" |

I just purchased two tickets online. I found the website a bit byzantine at first, but after some time for the learning curve, it turned out to be pretty easy.
Train # 2955 From Mumbai To Jaipur Class 1A Cost Rs 3058 Train # 2951 (Rajdhani) From Mumbai To Delhi Class 2A Cost Rs 2210 Both of those included a delivery charge, I think Rs 60. m |

Train fares
Hi Steven, here are a few more tickets. We travelled last month.
05-10-03 Train# 7429 Rayalaseema Express. Hyderabad to Hospet Junction 2Air 1938rs for two adults. 530km. 10-10-03 Train#7227 BZA Vasco Express.Hospet to Madgaon Sleeper 338rs for two adults. 348km. Slow but beautiful scenery. 18-10-03 Train#0104 Mandovi Express. Madagaon to Mumbai Sleeper 586+80 service charge 666rs for two adults. 767km. 20-10-03 Train#2951 Mumbai Rajdhani. Mumbai to New Delhi 3Air 2970rs for two adults. 1386km. We were having trouble getting a ticket to Delhi so went to tourist quota office at Mumbai Central as per Footprints guidebook and got exactly what we wanted with no line-up and treated royally.
