i chose the citi bank PG option and there seems to be an option to go for credit or debit cards, i think they have just changed the gateway without proper announcement
poor communication from irctc's part Now you may use HDFC / AXIS / SBI / KVB (Karur Vysya Bank) VISA debit cards(only) for ticket booking through any of the credit card Payment Gateways (ICICI PG, HDFC PG, CITI PG). |

I have never understood why IRCTC makes you choose a specific payment gateway at all.
All other internet sites I have used to purchase items just take your credit card number and process the payment. IRCTC... we are like this only. |

mickey, other site might be using a single gateway, since irctc has gor commercial tie ups they want to place individual gateways, in a way thats good.
unless they explain why and when they make changes ![]() |

Not widespread on the road, but neither are credit cards.
In cities, should not be a problem at all. |

Thanks Capt... Maybe in the larger villages it might be like small Malls were ten years ago: everybody accepted cards, but they all took them to the one guy in the mall that had a machine. I suppose he got his cut.
I'm guessing. |

using foreign debit cards to book online
said i'd let you know if it worked... and it did!
for other newbies who have searched and searched (as i did) and not found the info... when you get to the payment screen, choose 'citi PG' at the top right under 'credit cards', then choose 'other..' option at the bottom of the drop-down menu. ignore the fact that it is not a credit card. mine is a visa debit from a UK bank and it was accepted. thanks to saesms for pointing me in the right direction ![]() |
