Hampi to Cochin via Mysore

Hi,

Is there a train that goes from Hampi (Hospet) to Cochin via Mysore? The indian rail website keeps asking for train numbers and I cant find anywhere that lists them!!!
Help, please!

No direct trains, both from Hospet to Mysore and from Mysore to Cochin you have to change trains at Bangalore.

On the IR page, click 'Trains between imp. Stations' or 'Trains/Fare Accommodation' to query trains between stations.

Hospet-Cochin

There's no direct train.
Either take the train to Madgaon (Goa) then take a train to Ernakulam from there.
Or ,if you must go to Mysore, take the Hubli-Mysore Express, then you'll have to go to Bangalore to pick up the KK Express for Ernakulam.
Use this "between Metros ' page rather than numbers.

That was rather harsh, old chap.

I am not sure what Louise wrote that called for this, IMO she was just frustrated at the Indian Railway website. At least, that is what I could read into her posting.

I would suggest she try this site:

Cheers

In case anyone is confused, I had replied to this thread suggesting that more info was needed to give a more personalised reply.

I have deleted the reply as it seemed to come out the wrong way.

You can get an overnight train from Hospet to Bangalore, then a morning train to Mysore.

Or you can get a mid afternoon train from Hospet to Hubli, then an overnight train to Mysore.

From Mysore, you can get a train to Bangalore, then an overnight train to Cochin.

Or you can get a bus to Ooty, then have a day there, or get the very scenic blue mountain toy train to Mettupaliyam, then get to Coimbatore and take a bus or a train to Cochin.

You can also get a direct bus from Mysore to Cochin, a long drive, but the easiest option.

If you choose Hospet-Bangalore and bangalore-Cochin, (visiting Mysore in between) you can book using the 'break of journey' rules and save about a third of the fare (and you'd still be allowed up to 3 days for Mysore), a break journey ticket can only be booked over the counter in India.

The following is from another thread.

Go to the following page.

http://www.indianrail.gov.in/inet_srcdest_names.html

Source Station Name - Sawai Madhopur

Destination Station Name – Agra Fort

Class - All Class

Then click on Get It.

(Update, Indian Railways is now 'day of week' sensitive, so if the journey you plan to take will be on a Monday, make sure you enter a date that is also a monday to view all trains that run on a monday)

onto next page........to get availability.

Click on circle next to train number.

Please check Days Of Run as not all trains are daily.

Look at top left of screen.....

Enter Your Journey Date - 20 - Oct. (for example)

Enter Quota - General or Foreign Tourist Quota

Look at the top right of the screen for Classes, click on the circle next to the class you want (make sure it's on the same line as the train you want).

Then click on Get Availability

If you want to see a few different dates for the same train, do not select a date, the site will give you the availability for the selected train for the next 6 times it runs, and then the next 6 and so on.

This site can be slow.
The stations you will need are.....

Hospet
Bangalore City Jn
Hubli Jn
Mysore Jn
ERANAKULAM JN (for Cochin)
UDAGAMANDALAM (Ooty)
METUPALAIYAM
Coimbatore jn
Podanur Jn (south Coimbatore for trains that avoid Coimbatore Jn)

The IR site will come up with these destinations when searching trains from Hospet to Bangalore. Both stations are within the city of Bangalore.
