Hey guys, hoping someone has a bright idea! Been trying to book a train ticket from Goa to Alleppey on December 26, but all trains seem fully booked. Also the weeks before and after the 26th. I know it's peak seaons and all but never realised it was gonna be THAT busy around that time of year . Now there's waitlists but I'm guessing when it's that busy I'll probably be waiting forever... I checked out the radhjani express and netravati express.

So my question is... Is there another train I could take? AC2 or AC3 that is. And what about buses? Are there straight buses to Alleppey and is that doable? Last option would be flying...

Anyone any suggestions, ideas? Thanx a lot!

Hi Angie,
I think you better can try to find options to get to Kochi/Ernakulam and from there continue to Alleppey.
Here on erail you see all the trains, there is some availability in the Foreign Quota but these tickets you can only buy in India.
I also found bus service see here, but it I think this will be a terrific long journey.
If you can afford it I should fly to Kochi airport.

i would side with vonkla's suggestion...
all the direct trains are coming from far off origin points that even if you get WL, chances are it would be PQWL leading one to bite off their nails till chart preparation... also chances of FTQ being available is much lesser.
you have better chances taking a train to cochin (ERS) & then a taxi/bus/train to allepey. this gives you access to trains from mumbai/pune where your chances are better even with WL. also FTQ might be available in some of the routes/trains.
you can also try garib rath (12201) that has a low WL in 3A & availability in CC. 13 hrs is a journey that is almost 'bearable' in GR...
fyi - 22150 has 1 berth available in 2A.

EDIT: if you check the indian rail map, you'll realise that from cochin going south, there are 2 routes - one via alleppey & one via kottayam - both merge again at kayankulam & proceed to quilon (kollam). so, you can even consider trains to kayankulam/quilon & travel back north to alleppey...

I think you have made the right decision.
A nice and cheap way to continue to Alleppey is by public transport to Kottayam and than with the ferry to Alleppey, see here for the timings. In 2009 the price was 10 rs.
