GN quota with Boarding pt

Dear Gurus,

I want book train ticket from Origin station to Destination ( PDY – BBS) as it having berth availability (GN – 148 availability) with boarding point as MS. But when try to book ticket from PDY –BBS with MS as boarding point, then ticket status showing as RLWaiting List 198.

Can you please let me know if there will be change Reservation type even though I book from origin to destination ( but with bording pt as some other location)

What will happen if book the ticket from PDY – BBS with confirmed status and later if go to railwaystation counter to change the boarding point. Will confirmed ticket status turn to WL ?

There were a few reports in the past that Southern Railways were reluctant to change the boarding point once the ticket was booked.

Also whenever you book a ticket online the status will be as per the boarding station. So even if PDY-BBS shows availability, that will change as soon as you change your boarding point to some other station.

thanks for the reply.

Now, I understand that, if intermediate station selected as boarding pt then my ticket wont be under GN reservation category even though i reserve ticket from origin to destination.

But, consider the case that I have booked ticket from PDY-BBS with confirmed status. It means that ticket has coach/berth mentioned on it as it was confirmed. Now, if go to railway station counter and changed boading pt as intermediate station ( MS), then will confirmed ticket change to WL ticket?

As far as I understand, the status of the ticket would not change, since it will be done manually. You would need to give them a valid reason for the change. Go through the threads here in this forum on the same topic.

If IR allows this as a easy policy then IR will only be doing BP changes. The Railway staff are smarter. They don't allow BP changes if they smell that it is being done to beat the quota system.

My advice don't try it.

##Except SR and SWR staff, all others are generous enough to change the Boarding Point, more importantly, when quota changes.

##Please book the ticket ex.CGL. If they refuse to change the Boarding Point, then, it is easy to go to CGL, instead of PDY.
