Getting from Goa to Mumbai? & Mumbai to Delhi?

What's the best way to get from Goa to Mumbai? By train? If so, any idea how long it takes?

Also, what about getting from Mumbai to Delhi? Would you recommend flying? or is train a viable option for that?

Both Goa-Mumbai and Mumbai-Delhi can easily be done by both rail and air. The choice depends on the time and money at your disposal.

As a railfan, my personal recommendation will be to travel by train on both the legs - by the Jan Shatabdi Express Goa-Mum and by The Rajdhani Express Mum-Del.

Thanks for the info. Shimla. What kind of journey times am I looking at for these routes. Just looking at the map, I'm thinking maybe train to Mumbai, but flight to Delhi! That said, I don't like flying much - so maybe the train IS a better option. Can this route be done by overnight, sleeper train??

train journey from goa to mumbai wud take approx 10 hours, and the train running at night is konkankanya exp, leaving goa at around 6 ish evening and 5 morning u are in mumbai, there are sleeper buses also running at night but not too comfortable.

spicejet fares are pretty reasobale also between goa n mumbai, 35 usd if done in advance,

del - mum by train is 16-24 hours and if you are traveling in a group or woth friends its fun , guess the train passes thru 4-6 states.

To goa plane/train /bus depending on your budget. I first tried the bus the cheapest had to sit for 18 hours .The next trip i tried the sleeper in the ac bus pretty good. the volvo gets a 5/5 for comfort when it comes to the bus from mumbai to goa . The 2/3 tier ac sleeper train is pretty good and so is the 2nd class depends how you wanna go.I wouldnt travel by plane as i wanna spend all the money saved on the plane travel on the good food and rooms in goa hehe

The fastest train between Mumbai and Delhi is the Rajdhani Express, which covers the distance of 1385 kms. in 17 hours. Its quite comfortable, particularly when travelling by 2AC class. The train leaves Mumbai at 16=55 and reaches ND the next morning at 09=55, so the timings are convenient too. The journey fare includes meals, newspaper and bed roll.

We have done the exact trip that Shimla has indicarted and it was great, make sure if you travel fro Delhi to Goa that you catch the one nighter train two nights is a little too long. The Radjani express is a great experience we loved it and would do it again any day.

I took that train this month and it is very comfortable and convenient.

You can also cover the Mumbai-Goa distance by plane in about an hour, but ofcourse its more fun by train!!

Mumbai to Goa will be a better option. Its closer and cheaper compared to Delhi.
