from Udaipur to Goa

Hi!
On my way from Rajasthan (last stop in Udaipur) I would like to travel to Goa. It seems to be a very far journey! Would you recommend any stops and where and what is the most convenient way tp get there as quick as possible???

Thanks !!

Have you considered Diu instead of Goa?

Either way, consider going to Ahmedabad, It's an interesting city; you can get daytime or overnight trains from Udaipur.

From Ahmedabad there is a train departs at 11:55 in the morning (not Tuesdays or Fridays) and gets to Madgaon (Goa) at 07:35 the next morning.

Also, you could get a train from Udaipur to Chittaurgarh, then a train to Bundi, both places are said to be well worth a visit and get virtually no tourists.

Bundi it only about 12 km from Kota, there are fast trains to Goa from Kota on 3 days a week.

On Sundays and Tuesdays the train departs Kota at 15:40 and gets to Madgaon at 12:25 the next day, on Fridays the train departs at 14:05 and gets to Madgaon at 13:15 the next day.

There are buses between Ahmedabad and Diu that take 11 hours.

According to the LP, there's one that stops about 8km away from Diu; the just phone rang, however, and drove the name of the station clear out of my mind.

The line from Ahmedabad to Veraval (80 km from Diu) is closed at the moment for gauge conversion, the line from Veraval to Delwada is slow and crowded, the station at Una is the best place for buses to Diu (11km).

A fat rickshaw wallah at Una station got a friend and me so angry we wanted to punch him, we didn't approach him for a rickshaw, as usual we approached one of the thin blokes.

The fat bloke spoke to all the others in Gujarati, and none of them would take us to Diu, we eventually got the fat bloke down to Rs100 and reluctantly accepted this.

He then stopped another 100 metres up the road and picked up a female passenger, she got off 1 km from Diu and give him Rs10, he got to Diu bus station (half a km from the main square) and wouldn't take us the rest of the way.
