From Mangalore to Hassan

I am planning to reach Hassan from Cochin, and I can see that the best way is by train from Ernakulam to Mangalore, and then by bus (the rail line should be still closed, I presume).
Does anybody have information about the buses from Mangalore to Hassan? How long is the journey, how frequent are the buses, are there AC coaches, is the road practible during summertime, etc?
And what about trains / buses from Hassan to Mysore?

There are the Government Buses to Hassan. The ordinary buses aren't very comfortable. But the non-stop semi luxury buses are better; they take 3.30 hrs - 4 hrs. Buses leave KSRTC bus station, a good 3.5 kms from the railway station, frequently. The roads are good; except in the ghat section.

There are Volvo AC buses from Mangalore to Bangalore Via Hassan; but they do not carry passengers to Hassan.

There are very few private buses to Hassan. They are comfortable but their frequency is dismal
