From Jodpur...
From Jodpur...
Hi all of you who invest your time, patience, efforts,…in making out of this site such a success, and to people like me a LOT easier to travel. Thanks to you all.
Now my question is: I had come from Jodpur to Jisailmer, -by train- from here I want to go into Gujarat –Diu- which would be the fasted, nicer, easier way to go? And some thing, from Diu to Mumbai?
Thanks in advance to all.

You don't mention budget.
You have picked a couple of difficult journeys, you should consider stopping off at Mt. Abu on the way to Diu, it would be different from both the Jaisalmer and Diu.
Jaisalmer - Jodhpur trains on post 8.
The overnight train from Jaisalmer gets to Jodhpur at 05:15, there is then a train (9112) that departs Jodhpur at 06:25 and gets to Abu Rd. at 12:05, and gets to Ahmedabad at 16:30.
There are overnight trains from Jodhpur to Ahmedabad, but these only run on Mundays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
There are probibly flights between Jodhpur and Ahmedabad, I cant find details at the moment as someone (me) has lost the airline timetable...
The bus from Ahmedabad to Diu takes 11 hours (daytime I think), but I have no info about it.
From Diu to Mumbai.....
Bus to Ahmedabad, then an 8 (or so) hour train journey to Mumbai, there are regular daytime and overnight trains between Ahmedabad and Mumbai.
Look half way down post 14 for Ahmedabad - Mumbai trains.
There is also a bus between Diu and Mumbai, it takes 24 hours.
There is a flight from Diu to Mumbai, it is daily and costs US$100 for a single.
Let me know if you need details.

Thanks steven_ber, great answer.
But keep in mind that I’m already in Jodpur, and I was trying to go to Diu, w/out to go back to Jodpur. For what I can understand from your post is that if I go from Jisailmer to Mt.Abu, it should be possible to continue to Diu. Am I wrong here?

You could take a bus to Barmer (158 km south of Jaisalmer), then a train to Luni (about 30 km south of Jodhpur), but the easiest way will always be to head back to Jodhpur.
Abu Rd. station is a main station on the line from Jodhpur/Jaipur to Ahmedabad, all trains stop at Abu Rd.
