Any FTQ tickets still available will be used to reduce the waitlists when the reservation chart is prepared, this should happen about 4 hours before the train's scheduled departure time, or in the case of morning departures (before 12:00) the reservation chart is prepared by 5pm the day before.

The FTQ tickets will not be available once the reservation chart is prepared.

Getting FT quote tickets

Can I get tickets at stations even if the train I want the ticket for never stops at that particular station?

Tickets under FTQ can be booked at certain stations irrespective of whether the train has a halt or no. Recently IRCTC has enabled foreign tourists to book FTQ tickets online at www.irctc.co.in.

Foreign Tourist Quota tickets are only available at International Tourist Bureaus which are in major cities, namely the following

KOLKATA CHENNAI BANGALORE AHMEDABAD
SECUNDERABAD JAIPUR JODHPUR VARANASI
NEW DELHI AGRA-CANTT. MUMBAI

Krishna108 if you are under the impression that you can book them anywhere: That is wrong. The only way of doing that would be by the online connection that aarosh mentioned above. But there the tickets are considerably more expensive, yet the facility is still more convenient than having to go physically to one of those offices.

Book Indian Railways tickets a year in advance under FTQ

You can book Indian Railways tickets a year in advance after creating a Foreign User account on IR Booking site using the URL below:

https://www.irctc.co.in/eticketing/userSignUp.jsf

The only requirement is that you need to have a foreign mobile number that can receive SMS messages and be able to pay using credit card.

There is a registration fee of Rs 100.00 (Approx $1.30) when you login the first time. Also, there is a service charge of Rs 200.00 ( $2.50) per booking.

Hope this helps.
