Question For how many station TT waits before cancelling the ticket

Hi,

I am travelling from Toranagallu to Bangalore on 5th of July. As the waiting was too much from toranagallu, i got the ticket booked from two station before.

I want to know for how many station does the TT wait before he cancels the ticket and gives it to the waiting list fellow.

Can i please have the answer as soon as possible from the indiamike train gurus because i shall start my travel tomorrow and will not be able to access internet facility hence.

Thanks in advance to all the train gurus

Abhishek

TT will come to your seat, and on finding it empty will ask around whether somebody occupied this seat. If people say no, he will cancel.
So it depends from where does TT start checking and when does he reach your seat.
If there is not much rush and train is not 100% full, no worries, your seat will not be cancelled, but if there are lots of WL passengers waiting in the wings, your seat will be cancelled.

Dear abkash4u,

##The general convention is that the TTE waits till next stop.

##But, as a matter of fact, the passenger must occupy his berth in the station from where it is reserved (or) from another station, if that particular station had been opted as revised Boarding Point.

@VSP - would it work if the OP goes to Toranagallu station and applies for a change in Boarding point giving the ticket details (and a ticket photocopy may be)? I guess this is possible, but not sure.

He obviously will have to justify the cause giving some reason, and his reasons of "waiting was too much from Toranagallu" would not work
