I travelled recently on Lokmanya TT Exp from Bangalore.Though during travelling there were some really good Pakoras,Bhel with Tea coffee which are prepared in trains and served for nominal price. At night there was only one option provided by that guy which was parota with sabji. 5 numbers i.e,
Am not v sure if its the same case on all class (I was travelling on SL ). I remember years back when i had travelled all the way from Delhi to Bangalore (on FC non AC i bel) where food were really good! Briyanis,North Indian meals and many options. I wanted to know few things : 1. Is it specific to Trains?? Or distance to be travelled? 2. 1AC will be served better food/options?? 3. Was there or will there be any option to mention our food preference while booking tickets as in Flights?? Thanks |

Yes, it does depend on the train. Most long distance trains have a pantry car. The Shatabdi is the best in terms of food and service.

Absolutely Qosmos, the Shatabdi has excelent food. They just seem to keep on coming out with more and more!
The morning ones give you tea (separates), hot milk and cereal, more tea with biscuits, then a choice of veg (indian brekky) or non veg (omelette w/chilly) and more and more.. the evening is even better with so many different courses and nibbles. I think you hit the nail on the head, it all depends on the train and the class. |

I think the food you get depends on the Train and not on the Class in which you travel. Some trains e.g. Nizamudin-Vasco da gama Goa Exp. have very good pantry service , so offer large variety of food. You will get the same food irrespective of the class of travel. (be it SL or 3A or 2A). I am not sure about 1A. They have better cutlery in 1A though.
