FC on Flying Ranee?
Hi,
Does anyone know what the seat configuration is in the First Class compartment of the Flying Ranee train. Its just a little confusing since its a day train so I can't imagine that there would be berths. Also this class is not categorized as 1A or the executive class as seen on other day trains. Anybody who has travelled this class on this train or know about it? Can i safely assume that this is non a/c? Thanks. |

The old First Class (non AC) is almost identical to First Class AC, though a little dirtier and a tiny bit smaller, but without the sealed windows you get in 1AC, have a look at http://www.seat61.com/India.htm (First Class- about half way down the page).
First Class (non AC) seats 6 people in each cabin and 3 in each coupe (instead of 4 or 2 for overnight journeys). Now, I don't know if the Flying Ranee has this type of First Class (probibly has), but the train has special carriages for dwarfs (or it used to have), double decker carriages (chair class I think), I wonder if it still has these carriages??? Maybe the carriages weren't for dwarfs, maybe they were just built for people who enjoy bumping their heads. ![]()

Flying Ranee has only 2 classes.
A/c chair car non a/c seats - double decker ( i guess the only double decker train in india) It starts from Surat at around 5.35 AM & reaches Mumbai (borivali) by 9.30 AM.

Thanks Ashish...I'll take your advice about the CC :-) . I had another question. I am going to be arriving at the mumbai domestic airport at 4:05pm with one bag and a carryon. I was planning on boarding the train at Andheri @ 6:18pm rather than Central @5:55pm or Borivali @ 6:38pm. Do you think boarding @ Andheri where the train stops for 2 mins...is a good idea? Also how hard is it to find your coach. Sorry I'm not very familiar with train travel in mumbai. Please advice.

Boarding in CC won't be a problem from any of the station.
Andheri would be the most advisable, since its very close to the airport. Once, you reach Andheri, pls ask for directions, i.e on which platform does Flying ranee arrive. Goto that Platform & on that platform ask any vendor or Kiosk fellow, where does CC compartment for flying ranee stop?? Stand around the point you have been advised & once the train comes, you can easliy board it. |
