Evening Shatabdi from Chandigarh

I have this problem. I need to travel from Chandigarh to
Ahmedabad which means changing over at Delhi.
Now there is one evening Shatbdi that reaches New Delhi at 2140 and then I could take Delhi Mail (now called Haridwar Mail) at 2250 from Old Delhi.
So there is a gap of 70 mins which is quite sufficient PROVIDED Shatabdi arrives on time. I guess it is OK even if it is late by 20-30 minutes.
My question--does anybody here knows if habits of this particular train?. How often it is seriously late?.
Can I take the risk?.

Its hardly ever late

. And u could take the metro from New Delhi station to Old delhi

I had a collegue who did it but found himself in a traffic
jam near Old Delhi St (he was in an auto-pre-metro days).
He barely made it.
BTW, do you know the timing of the last Metro train from
New Delhi to Old Delhi

without metro, it is a tricky attempt, as the Old Delhi Station area frequently gets jammed. Same at the new delhi station, on pharganj side (Shatabadi comes at platform 1). Metro - last train is at 10 pm)
