eTicket (train) reservation status query
Hi
I'm a bit confused by the "status" code on two eTickets I've just purchased (I'm booking ahead from the UK using the IRCTC website). Can you help? The first reservation is on the Ashram Express Delhi to Jaipur, 1AC, on general quota. The status on the ticket is simply "CNF". The second reservation is on the Delhi-Jaisalmer Express Jodhpur to Jaisalmer, 2AC, on tourist quota. On this ticket we have a statement of Coach no / Seat no / Berth / Status which are "A1" / "0038" & "0037" / "confirmed". 1. Can anyone explain why we have seats allocated for the second of these, but not for the first? Is it down to the different quotas? Or is there something wrong with the first reservation? 2. Can anyone also tell me what CNF stands for on the first ticket (confirmed?)? Many thanks! Sarah & Matt |

Dear Sarah, Thats the procedure for reservation in AC First. there will be no berth/seat number, only CNF (confirmed), berths/seats are allocated only hours before the train departs, there should be only one AC FIRST carriage on the train (it may be only half a carriage), when you get to the carriage look for the reservation sheet nearby the door or ask the Ticket Checker/Bogie Attendant on the train where your berth is. There is nothing wrong with your reservations. All the Best. |

Hi I was just reading this thread because I too was confused at not being allocated a seat for the two 1AC tickets I booked.
But there's something else on the ticket printouts that I'm hoping someone at IM can clarify for me. While both printouts show "confirm" status (on right), on the left under Quota there's S# 1. Does anyone know what this "S#1" means? I mean, does it indicate that my booking is at this time tentative for a seat/berth or am I definitely going going to be allocated one and need not worry? I'm just asking because there's few seats available on 2A at this stage, and I definitely want to catch these trains. I really hope someone can allay my concerns, thanks. ![]() |

In I AC seats are allocated while preparing Charts. So if your ticket shows Confirmed status, don't worry ! You can enquire the Seat Nos. by SMS (If you are using a cellphone) or at Railway Station.
No Worries ! Quote:
