E-tickets : a curse ?
In my opinion, some years back it was a lot easier to travel in India without planning much ahead. Those days you could find available seats on trains at almost any time and at reasonable short notice.
Nowadays, trains get booked up very fast wich makes it more difficult to travel without a plan. Is this because of the introduction of e-tickets ? ![]() |

No, not at all.
I'm not sure of the numbers, but only about 10% of train tickets sold are E-Tickets. Indian Railways has just got busier. |

Dear spike,
The answer is 'both', that is, volumetric increase in the number of passengers and alsl extensive use of E-Tickets, that has made train bookings to get cramped as fast as possible!!! |
