A lot of speculation is on about this train, the literary meaning being - fast. As of now, it seems to be the fastest train in Indian railways. There will be no commercial stops in between, hence it will reach its destination earlier than Rajdhanis. Reservation will be done based on a point-to-point basis (read : origin-destination). It will be fully reserved. For the Sealdah Duronto, it will be fully air-conditioned. And a new class will be introduced - economy A/C III tier - which may replace the present sleeper class in future. Fares will include meal charges and will be less than Rajdhani fares.

The Sealdah-Delhi Duronto will commence journey just before the pujas. What a better gift can be for the travel-crazy Bengali community !

Well, everybody is eagerly waiting for that announcement which is yet to be made. It's in the news that the first train will be flagged off on 18th Sep. But, again, that's a speculation.

Read in papers that 2 Duronto trains would be starting soon. Sealdah - Delhi and Chennai - Delhi. The first one will be flagged off by Mamta Banerjee and the second one by P. Chidambaram.

The Sealdah - Delhi Duronto is expected to reach Delhi 30 minutes earlier than the Rajdhani. It would have 3 stops for change of staff in between.

What is that PC above ? And the cost for them and General seats ?

I am sorry to add it here that in E-rail.in site it is showing that the train from Sealdah [2259] is cancelled. So, can't do the bookings now in Duronto Express.

Hi PC means Pantry Car.
The first ticket booking is permitted for the journey of 21st onwards from NDLS, and from 24th onwards from Sealdah.
I have seen availability of AC 3tier for 24th went to WL20 even at 08:10 am today.

Yes, Steven, chances are you are right. These coaches are taken from Garib Rath trains and most likely they have side middle berths. It's not clear what's the idea behind introducing them again when a decision was taken to abolish them. Also, the fare is only Rs.55 less than the 3AC fare! Now, is that the economy to be meted out to passengers !

Bedrolls in a/c class are always supplied free of cost.

And regarding vsp's observation - this is not a garib rath. It happens to be the fastest train in Indian railways. So it's very charismatic, right ? So why coaches with SMBs should be provided here ? Everybody will be more than eager to pay extra Rs.55 to get rid of that discomfort. That is evident from the waiting list status - while 3AC bookings are waitlisted, 3E are still available.
