I want to search all trains that originates,passes from/between a station. Like say all trains from/through Agra. How to do it? Pls help.

Hm. I think (but am not sure and am not checking for you) http://www.trainenquiry.com/ offers something along those lines.

I think more of the regular Indian trains sites may offer it; you need to know a lot of the relevant parameters to make it work though. Bottom line, I don't find it easy; maybe some of the train buffs here will have better tips on it.

Exactly, that's what I was thinking of Been a while since I tried; I think you need to have some idea of what you're looking for to begin with to make it work.

This is interesting. I am planning on going from Sec'bad to Goa, return and was looking for a train. Could not find one at my usual website, www.indiarailinfo.com.

I then looked at http://erail.in/ and put From Sec'bad to Goa and found the train (number 7603) that goes from Kacheguda to Yeswantpur but, on looking at the stations on the bottom half of the screen - it looks funny. It shows the station stops along the route Kacheguda-Goa!!! Click, Show map and you get Kacheguda to Yeswantpur with the station names on the right side of the map!

I then went to the Indian Rail website and downloaded the DPF of #52 - sure enough, train # 7603 is Kacheguda to Yeswantpur.

I believe that there is no train that directly connects Sec'bad with Goa. Interesting.

I dont think erail.in is wrong.. I think there would be some quota on 7603. May be Steven, the rail God or VSP, Guru for the God can throw some light.

I found out that Amravati Exps (8047) leaves Dhone at the time mentioned by erail for 7603. So, it may be that some coaches of 7603 may be detached and attached to 8047 - I'm not sure, but this is my assumption.

Just look at the schedule given by Erail for this train.

8047 reaches Dhone at 02.38 and 7603 at 02.25. But will they be able to connect coaches (as per my assumption) in two minutes as 8047 leaves at 02.40 hrs is a big question..

Thanks Arun and VSP - it is really interesting though. I thank you both for digging up some valuable information.

Now, the next question is which days of the week can I travel from Kacheguda to Goa on this funny attached appendage and how do I book it - I shall check out the Indian Railway website and see what I come up with - will post here.

PS: Over the last 25 years, I am not sure how many more trains have been introduced throughout India, but, given the complexity of making appropriate schedules without clashes, I think IR have done very well indeed. Part of the reaason I think is the advancement in Telecommunication - my uncle was in the Signal and Telecommunication of IR (IRISET) at Sec'bad for many years and still consults for them after his retirement (10 years ago).

##7603 runs DAILY between Kachiguda and Yeshwantpur via Guntakal.

##On FOUR Days, 7603 carries Vasco coaches which are attached to 8047 in GTL.

##On the remaining THREE DAYS, 7603 carries Hubli Coaches which are attached to 7225 in GTL.

##As such, a passenger who intends to travel from Hubli to Kachiguda, has to put 8048 on Four Days in a week AND 7226 on Three Days in a week. When they depart from KCG, they should put 7603 only, whether it is UBL or VSG.

I have figured it out - there are actually 3 trains that come together - I don't remember the exact train numbers, but, I spent some time on IR website, found the route and put together a PDF file - I think we should make it a sticky so that anyone going from Sec'bad to Goa (like someone else posted today) has it handy. Dep Kacheguda, Tue, Wed, Fri, Sunday (I did not do the reverse direction - will do):.
