Do you need train information?

Thanks for the links anyway! I'm interested in getting all the info I can, travel and otherwise. So, this message board is great. I'm trying to get to Nawalgarh or Jhunjhunu from Jaipur.
I can see the 9711 or the 4737 will take me from Jaipur to Sikar JN (in Shekhawati) but how do I get from there to Nawalgarh or Jhunjhunu??
They both seem to be on a train line from Sikar but I just can't find the train!
Do you think I could just get a taxi from Sikar at not too high a cost?

A lot of sections in Shekhawati are closed for gauge conversion, but I'm not 100% sure what ones.
If you cant find a train, it's likely that section is closed.
I've no idea about taxi costs, but they should be available, or just get a bus.

SOS: Missing Person...
Please look at this thread, even if you are not in India.: Have you seen Jonathan Spollen?
He could be anywhere now: You might have met him, be able to help, or give information.

Steven ... I probably can't find a train because I'm just venturing there for the first time & I'm not au fe with finding my way around the Indian trains website. I just have to keep putting in Sikar and then all the different station names in Shekhawati in the hope that a train goes somewhere from there.
I've read it is better to take the bus.I'll just ask for advice when I get there!!!
Thanks anyway.

The following map may help.
http://samit.org/irmap/03.jpg
It's from the following larger clickable map.
http://samit.org/irmap/
When you look at stations along the route, you can then use www.erail.in to search for trains.

The map comes with a legend, here: http://samit.org/irmap/legend.jpg .Note those pictures (so the map sections as well) I have to click upon opening to further enlarge them.
While you're at it, see also the Indian Railways map at http://www.indianrailways.gov.in/maps/all_india.htm . Note it dates to 2001, and Samit's is a lot more detailed.
Nah, some of us have just been pouring over that stuff for years. Like most things, just takes some practice
With a train network (or indeed a country) the size of that, sure it can all be a little daunting at first.

i know you know everything about the trains so i thought i would ask you,
i am trying to make a paymenr on the irctc website for a journey and keep getting this message
You Were Trying To Use citiemi Payment Gateway And The Transaction CouldNot Proceed Due To There is a delay in processing the transaction.
We regret that the payment for the transaction under reference no. 01****** was not authorised by your bankers and hence we are not in a position to process the booking.
i was wondering if you knew what the problem was,
thanks

"Live The Dream"
There appear to be several "payment gateways" there. People report differently on what works for them, so try to toggle those around to see what works for you.
I believe I just said that

So, no, probably not. I don't know, I've never had to use the system. I had a problem, too, and the issue was that my credit card company was blocking the transaction because it came from India and I live in the US. My credit card company called to see if the transaction was mine. They put some kind of exception to the system to give the permission and it went through. The bank also asked when I would be in India so that they could give permission during that time. It is pretty reassuring!
As best I can understand this system, the transaction goes through a separate bank to my credit card bank. I believe there are two choices. So, I guess this could have something to do with it.

Hi there, I've been on the indian train website and although I can find the right train it won't show up the fare, its just a blank! I want to know how much an overnight train will cost from Jaislamer to Delhi, and a day time train from Delhi to Jaipur, then Jaipur to Jodhpur then Jodhpur to Jaisalmer! A rough estimate would be great, just wondering how much money we are going to need! Probably will want to be in 3 AC class. Thanks!
