Nah, some of us have just been pouring over that stuff for years. Like most things, just takes some practice With a train network (or indeed a country) the size of that, sure it can all be a little daunting at first.

hi,

i know you know everything about the trains so i thought i would ask you,

i am trying to make a paymenr on the irctc website for a journey and keep getting this message

You Were Trying To Use citiemi Payment Gateway And The Transaction CouldNot Proceed Due To There is a delay in processing the transaction.

We regret that the payment for the transaction under reference no. 01****** was not authorised by your bankers and hence we are not in a position to process the booking.

i was wondering if you knew what the problem was,

thanks

There appear to be several "payment gateways" there. People report differently on what works for them, so try to toggle those around to see what works for you.

So, no, probably not. I don't know, I've never had to use the system.

I had a problem, too, and the issue was that my credit card company was blocking the transaction because it came from India and I live in the US. My credit card company called to see if the transaction was mine. They put some kind of exception to the system to give the permission and it went through. The bank also asked when I would be in India so that they could give permission during that time. It is pretty reassuring!
As best I can understand this system, the transaction goes through a separate bank to my credit card bank. I believe there are two choices. So, I guess this could have something to do with it.

Hi there, I've been on the indian train website and although I can find the right train it won't show up the fare, its just a blank! I want to know how much an overnight train will cost from Jaislamer to Delhi, and a day time train from Delhi to Jaipur, then Jaipur to Jodhpur then Jodhpur to Jaisalmer! A rough estimate would be great, just wondering how much money we are going to need! Probably will want to be in 3 AC class. Thanks!

You can use the following link to know the fares easily:

http://www.cleartrip.com/trains/resu...male_seniors=0

You can click on "Modify my Search" to view other fares.

For what it's worth, I just made a train reservation using cleartrip and it was a piece of cake. To me it was easier to search trains than erail and simpler to book than through irctc (the way I had made a previous booking). Of course, I'm new at this and could have messed up.

waitin list for 3352

I have booked tickets from Vijaywada to Dhanbad on 27-Jun-2009 and got WL-13 - WL-16 in 3 AC, is there any chance to get it confirmed as i have being tracking the booking status and founded that there are very few takers for the seats in the train, so according to my assumptions the quota seats shall fulfill the WL seats, but never travelled in this train, can anyone suggest abt the confrimity of seats from such a WL
Thanks in advance....

Question Railway station for Deogarh?

We're traveling from Udaipur to Kota/Bundi in early August and want to make a stop in Deogarh, but can't seem to find the nearby train station. Is there still a train linking these cities and if so, what is the name of the station?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

I think the station is called Devgarh Madariya.

However, the Udaipur-Mavli Jn-Chittaurgarh-Bundi-Kota line is broad gauge, whilst the Mavli Jn-Devgarh Madariya-Marwar Jn line is metre gauge.

Whilst you can change trains at Mavli Jn, it wouldn't be a great way to get to Deogarh, and I think the Mavli-Marwar line is due to close shortly for gauge conversion. (leading to direct Udaipur-Jodhpur trains.)
