Thanks so much, I think I can do it so its not on a weekend, one other question, To get from Mysore to Chennai, there is a direct train? How long does it take? Thanks so much for your help.

These are direct trains to Chennai. You dont have to stop at Bangalore..? Choose from any one depending upon availability and your preference on travel time becuase one is overnight . Other will drop you in Chennai late in evening.

There is nothing to worry. Just take the train which suits your timings and has availability, as you dont have any preference for any station book train from any starting station. You would need a taxi or Bus from airport in any case.

##The journey time from Bangalore Airport to Bangalore City Railway Station, would be around Two Hours, since the distance is around 40-45Kms. During peak traffic hours, the journey time could be even more!!!!

You can login to irctc.com and check there. If you are comfortable with the timings and other things you can book it straightaway.

I need to travel from Chennai to Puducherry. Apparently I cannot buy a ticket for this whole journey so I am assuming that I need to buy a ticket from Chennai to a nearby station. According to the rail map that would be Viluparam. But I cannot buy a ticket between Viluparam and Puducherry. Does this mean that these are local trains that run periodically for which I must purchase a ticket on site? Or am I missing something? I am new to this site and have tried searching. So, if I have missed something, I apologize. Thanks

I was sure there was a daytime train with the old First Class (non air con), but I can't find it.

There's a direct train on a Wednesday, Train 2898, Chennai Egmore 09.25 Pondi 13.35 (2A, 3A, SL. wed only)

There's also one or two unreserved passenger trains from Chennai to Pondi, though I've no idea how busy these trains will be.

If you book a Chennai-Viluparam train, then get a passenger train from Vilupuram to Pondi, and just buy a 2nd class ticket at Vilupuram station.

Vilupuram-Pondi trains.

.

Puducherry is a three hour journey by road State Buses along ECR. It is not the best route to try servives of Indian Railways.
