Dear Swapnil,

as I believe berth no. 39/47/55/63 are earmarked for RAC (considering no SMB in coach).

##In so far as 3AC is concerned, in some trains 47/55/63 are utilised for accomodating the passengers with RAC Status. I have also seen 3AC Coaches, wherein only 55 & 63 are utilised for RAC passengers.

in 15 coach train that's increase of only 15 passengers

##You are right. But where is the place in the coach
to make them sit? For this precise, the other 30 passengers have to sit to give company to these 15 Passengers.

##In fact thi was the case even in 2A and FC in the past. Now those in 2A have been given SLB.No.45 and there are very few FC Coaches.

Definitely trains which had this scheme are still running now...what I meant to ask was : What exactly do you mean by scheme had been terminated ? Booking under this scheme had terminated on 30-11-2008 or allotment of (half)tatkal seats in trains under this scheme terminated from this date ?

It appears that IR trying to squeeze out every bit of penny which it can get from each coach without increasing travel cost....disregarding comfort level of passengers!

Namaste!

I'm in Goa at the moment, and would be grateful for a little help in planning my trip from here to Trichy. I booked some fantastically low price flights from Trichy to KL on 12th January, but unfortunately didn't realise how difficult (or expensive) it would be to get from Goa to Trichy to get the flight!

As far as I can see, my options are:

a) To fly from Goa to Trichy (via Chennai). This is costly (almost 8,000r) and cancels out the savings made booking the flight from Trichy to KL!

b) Trains... difficult! There's the 7312 VSG Chennai Exp (Thurs only, Madgaon to Chennai), plenty of availability, so far so good. Unfortunately the overnight train from Chennai to Trichy has very high WL numbers - not so good.

c) Train from Chennai to Madurai (then only 2 hours to Trichy) - plenty of trains but all with high WL numbers.

d) Fly from Chennai to Trichy/Madurai - an expensive option.

I've a vague feeling that I could take a train down the coast south to Kerala, but can't work out from the railways map where I would change to go inwards towards anywhere in Tamil Nadu. Can anyone help me in this respect please?

If anyone has any other ideas of routes to Trichy from Goa, involving as few trains as possible, and preferably using overnight trains (but I realise this may not be possible), then I'd be really grateful for your help.

##The 2619 Matsyaganda Express departs from Madgaon at 00.20 hrs. and arrives in Mangalore at 6.15 hrs. But this is too risky!!!

##So, you please "barge" into 6345 Netrvati Express with a Waitlisted Ticket which departs from Madgaon at 22.50 hrs. and arrives in Kankanadi Station at 4.30 hrs. (**situated within Mangalore), because you have to take your Flight from Trichy!!!!

I've looked into this route and discovered an overnight train from Thivim (good for me) to Shoranur Junction (with availability), and then an afternoon train from Shoranur to Trichy, also with availability, so I've booked them, and now I'm all sorted.

You MUST be using 6345 from Thivium to Shoranur and 6108 from Shoranur to TPJ. Kindly go through your tickets and let me know!!!

Hi ,
I hope you can help. I am off to Kerala in two weeks and I am trying to book train tickets on the IRTC website. These are short train journeys for example between Alleppey and Cochin but the website is saying that these seats are unavailable. Is this because they are short train journeys or that they really have all sold out? I am a newbie to this and am a bit worried that i will not be able to book them and have to just turn up when i am out there.
