Specific questions are great and get just the answers you're looking for, but sometimes, it's the answers you're not looking for that bring the best results, but these require detail.

I'm fairly confident that you're not only visiting Kochi and Madurai, but what other places, and why the specific order/dates?

For example.

There's availability in First Class AC and also RAC is available (will confirm) in the old FC (non AC) on the overnight train from Kochi to Trichy (and beyond, just click on train 16866 to see where else the train goes)

If the backwaters are on your Itinerary, or even Varkala/Kovalam beach, then a train starts from Kollam, then Varkala, then Trivandrum and travels overnight to Madurai, it has availability in Sleeper Class if you use the foreign tourist quota.

You can go via Delhi. Fast trains from Mumbai to Nizamuddin are the August Kranti Rajdhani Express (Mumbai Central 17:40, Nizamuddin 10:55) and the Garib Rath Express (Bandra 16:55, Nizamuddin 09:40)

From Delhi to Chandigarh there are several trains. The fastest ones are the Shatabdi Expresses (From New Delhi at 07:40, 17:15 and 19:15 which take 3 hours 25 minutes) Kalka is closer to Shimla - the first two Shatabdis continue on to Kalka.

Swaraj Express is Bandra-Jammu, not Chandigarh.

The hotel in Varanasi booked a train tickets for us (through travel agency), and sent us a bad quality scan copy (rectangular paper with blue letters, saying on the top "Journey cum reservation tickets). Information on dates and price seems to be correct, however, what concerns me that they are not asking to make payment for the tickets to them now, but upon arrival (they say we are not on a waiting list, but have tickets).

Could somebody advise how the tickets should look like (I can forward a scans received to e-mail), and could it be that the price for tickets is not paid yet by the travel agency? I just want to be sure that we do have these tickets... (I didn't manage to open IRCT account, so I asked the hotel to do this). Thanks!

Do the documents that you have been sent show a PNR number? This is a ten digit number which can be checked on the Indian Railways official site.

For valid tickets it will show the coach and berth number allocated unless it is 1AC when it will just say CONFIRMED

I am trying to book ticket in Yrp Duronto Express(12214) from delhi to yeshwantpur on 20th May i.e. Monday. This train runs on monday,but is not showing in irctc for 20th May. Do you have any info on advance booking period for this train?

For some reason bookings are not being allowed on this train from 1 April. Probably a bug in the system.

Keep checking to see if it has been corrected. Book backup tickets on another train.

[EDIT - bookings are allowed on the Bangalore-Delhi Duronto throughout April and May, so this is definitely a bug. Bookings for the return should be allowed again soon]

Its normal for 1A bookings.

Your booking is fine. You will be allocated a coach and berth number when charting takes place, usually about 4 hours before departure.

My flight arrival time is 8:45 am at Delhi IGI airport. I need to catch Delhi Sarai Rohilla-Mumbai BandraT Garib Rath/12215 to Jaipur. And I have to be there in Jaipur before 3 pm. So this is the best option because buses always stuck in traffic.

So, my question is, this train arrives at delhi cantt. at 9:35 am and cantt railway station is about 8 km from IGI airport. If manage to come out from airport by 9 am, then I can reach there before train comes. But if can not then my ticket will be wasted. So, is there any way that I buy ticket in train itself from TTE, that way I will be safe or any other way that does not lead me to lose my money.

I am reasonably sure you can't make that connection. You could if the train is late. Lets wait for someone from Delhi to chip in.

When are you landing the Delhi? The fog could be your friend or enemy during January end - February,

In March, dates are tentative and day will be Saturday.

Even if I get into cab at 9. Are 30 minutes less to finish 7-8 KM on Saturday?
