If you'll allow me to quote myself btw with my original answer, tell me what's long-winded about it. The problem of course is indeed some think an easy question automatically merits an easy answer. As said, I've traveled exactly that same route, in recent years, and the other bits of it in other years: There is no easy answer.

There's a daily train Ujjain-Udaipur, http://erail.in?T=UJN::UDZ:, note its special notes.

Note in Madhya Pradesh, travel may often be taxing and slow; if that looks like just a few dozen kilometers, if the only transport is by a slow and clanky and jam-packed local bus that picks up 20 kms/hr at a very good speed, that's still a long journey.

But so let's say Jalgaon-Maheshwar-Omkareshwar-(if you have the time, do visit Mandu along the way!)-Ujjain-Udaipur should be doable, sure. Do note many of these shorter-looking distances may still take you several hours though, then.

I met some folks in Omkareshwar a few years ago btw who'd just come by bus from Pushkar (!) They hadn't just had the ride(s) of their lives, cough. And here's me feeling sorry for myself (In other words: That's just crazy far.)
Other answers to it above haven't essentially differed, though with their own takes. That's the nice thing about a forum like this and several people answering you. (Note how even just moving by Khandwa which the poster misspells and so may indeed be hard to find about if you do and which probably like me they'd never heard of before they probably picked up from my and some other replies, thank you very much.

Another funny thing is they in the meantime came up with another question elsewhere suggesting they'd dropped the whole plan and were now looking to move in quite a different way, but so never acknowledging the above, but I guess they're now following up on it. They may complain all they like, but are obviously following the suggestions given to them. As well they should, that is the way to move around there.

This isn't some newbie poster who doesn't know better, btw.)

The poster has meanwhile been told exactly how to (possibly) go about it. I don't see the problem. Now they're complaining of being abused? Well, again, let them learn to say "thank you" first. Oh, no time, they say? Gee whiz, guess what, but their free time is exactly what people are giving here.

Thanks Prakaant for your help everywhere.
I will book a cab in advance so when I get there in Chandigarh, I will set off for Kalka immediately. The only thing I am not sure is whether train will reach on time or not. If it reaches 15 minuets late I can cover that, but more then that no one can.
So if you can get me the information that how often it gets late and by how many minuets.

Thanks again

Thanks dipyamanbasu for the information. That means this train will get late for sure. Any way if I take risk, how much is the favorable chance of getting this train in March? And from where you got this information. Any link for that so I can track it daily.
Thanks.

Thanks dipyamanbasu for information. I have one more query. While returning I have ticket from Kalka in the same train. I question is, will there be any problem if I get that train in Chandigarh? Will my ticket get canceled by TT if he did find me there?

Thanks

The TTEs generally start checking tickets only after train starts from Chandigarh, so there will not be any problem!

Quoted timing is for the month of January, when the weather is foggy and it is normal to have trains late.

It would not be foggy during March, hence there is remote chance of getting it late.

BTW, it is suggested to keep tracking the train on the provided link!

Hello,

I have booked tickets in Kalka Mail from Delhi to Kalka ( Departing Delhi on 21-Jan-2012) and Shivalik Deluxe from Kalka to Shimla ( Departing Kalka on 22-Jan-2012) .
I would like to know if the Kalka Mail runs late regulary or not.
If Yes, will the Shivalik Deluxe wait for the Kalka mail?
I read that Shivalik Deluxe is a connecting train for the Kalka Mail.

Thanks

You are right...Shivalik Delux will wait if Kalka Mail runs late...
Generally, Kalka Mail reaches before time at Kalka...if there is no problem....

Thank you for the reply.
Will breakfast be served in Shivalik Deluxe ?
Since, it is snowing in Shimla, are there any chances of the Shivalik Deluxe being cancelled ?

Yes breakfast is served after Barog station.

The cancellation of the train itself is unlikely, but you never know!

Need Train Information

Hi All,

Please can you help me find a train information from Pune Jn (PUNE) to Chandrapur (CD) for 2/3/4 April 2012.

I am unable to find the same on IRCTC. I believe there is no direct train available but if you can kindly show me the connections, it will be really really great.

Thanks in advance,

Official website of Indian Railway suggests no direct train. You would have to take connection either through BHUSAVAL JN (BSL) or WARDHA JN (WR).
