Thank you for confirming. It's surprising that even for 22nd Dec that daily train is not being shown ! something wrong somewhere on the Trains database of IR, known as TDRC... we have to wait and see after a few hours, a day or two....

It's a massive system of co-relation, Rake sharing arrangements, and so many other variables. Perhaps the link too is broken, hence this absence presently.

Has 4633 ever shown on IR database?

It has no bookable classes, and normally those trains don't show up on IR searches.

There are 9 daily trains in total for ASR-PTK.

I agree. But timetable No 51 shows 4633 as running with II (obvious that it is unreserved)

It has showed up on IR databases BEFORE as far as I remember when GCIRC was in the initial planning stages when a night halt at ASR was contemplated..

That's why I am puzzled.

You will recall that 2424 for GCIRC showed Reservation Suspended for a number of days, and I had called up somebody on the spur of the moment, and the train was shown as available, and bookings restored the next day; the reason: The database had been corrupted. I hope you remember.

It's all so frustrating, IR just drives me nuts, they change all the train numbers, this allows EVERY single train, DMU and push-pull to be listed, they know far in advance of these changes, so what do we see on the 20th.....a step backwards.

If this was England, every single train would be shown, if it wasn't, the person responsible would be taking a train to the job centre to look for a new employer.

And I don't expect every train to be listed, not for at least a few months, and that's an optimistic estimate.

Now, Now, Steven, IR has the largest network in the world As far as I know, with approximately 63,465 route kms (2005-06), carrying an average of 1.83 million tons of freight and 15.68 million passengers (all 2005=06 figures) prepared by a Railway Official, whom I know, and this was his thesis showing these figures, after an extensive research. Latest figures would definitely show an upward trend towards freight traffic and passenger volumes.

And as he, I THINK, has rightly pointed out that IR cannot be compared with any other Railway in the world because of its uniqueness in many ways.

I can post more details, but then which passenger is interested in these ? Should you/anybody want, I can and am prepared to share the details offline !

Being an ardent Railfan, I am neutral about it, but yes, there is always a human element when IR comes under 'fire'. I am sure you will agree to that at least.

So far as UK, USA, other developed countries are concerned, the total route kms and travelled kms would be much less as far as I know. Don't talk about China; even there their number of route kms is much lower....

Let's not get into an argument shall we? We will put off people looking for info.

What an effort you've put in to solving this problem. I'm so impressed and thankful for your help. If you find when and how I can book #4633 Ravi Exp please let me know. Another question, it looks like #4633 has 2nd class unreserved. Are there any other classes?

As for 4633 it has only 2nd sitting and no other class. It's totally unreserved, and first come first get basis. Y...It's just two hours and thirty minutes from Amritsar to Pathankot. But given foggy conditions, on the day of your travel, it may run late, as Railways have issued caution orders, to slow down, and look ahead before proceeding ahead, despite signals and interlocking systems.

Well, the problem is not yet solved, We still don't know what happened to the train 4633.

Just hope 2.5 hours in an nonAC (it will just as cold outside) coach among aam junta is a journey that is OK by you.

4633 is totally unreserved and the number is not yet changed.
There is no problem with the passengers as there is no scope of reservation.
One can't get the new number at indianrail.gov.in because this server only provides changed numbers of trains in which reserved accommodation is provided.

Goa-Mumbai train with availability on 2nd Jan

There is a new train running from Goa to Mumbai on 2nd Jan (also 26th Dec) and Mumbai to Goa on 24th Dec and 1st Jan.

This train has loads of air con availability and booking starts on 23th Dec.
