Direct train from Jaisalmer to Agra

I can't seem to find one, maybe there isn't, it seems like i have to make a switch in Jaipur. But could i be wrong?

Plus when i do a search on Agra, i get 3 stations to choose from, wich one is it?

There is no direct train.

Take the train from Jaisalmer to either Jodhpur or Jaipur, and then a train from there to Agra (Fort).

You could also take a train from Jaisalmer to Bikaner, then an overnight train from there to Agra (Fort).

If you look for train times at www.erail.in you do not have to specify the exact station within a city.

But the best option is JSM-JU and JU-AF (or) JSM-JP and JP-AGC!!!

Depends what you mean by "best".

If My Friend Goo is interested in seeing the rat temple at Deshnok then the best route might be via Bikaner.

And the Jaipur - Agra Cantt train, although a fast option, leaves just 1 hour and 20 minutes after the train from Jaisalmer is scheduled to arrive: and that train is frequently delayed by more than that. I'd be more relaxed if I were taking a later onward train from Jaipur.

It's up to each individual to look at the train schedules and decide what is "best" for them.

If it fitted into your itinerary nicely then yes, a night in Jaipur would be restful and remove all concerns about missing an onward connection. The railway station in Jaipur is a little away from the city but there are some good guest houses near the station.

But there are several other well-timed trains between Jodhpur/Jaipur and Agra that would not require an overnight stop. Take a look at the relevant schedules on www.erail.in and you'll see what I mean.

There's one at 6.10 i see, if that fails there's again at 8.40

I think i'm good. I don't mind staying in Jaipur one night to get some rest, but i would have to steal that one night from somewhere else. That somewhere else would be Calcutta

Pearl Palace (often mentioned on this Forum) is a short auto rickshaw ride from the station at Jaipur. MfG - with this train travelling will you be giving yourself time at Jodhpur to see the Fort prior to Jaipur? You could do this by overnight train from Jaisalmer, then later same day train to Jaipur.

There is a very useful train that does not appear in most train timetables. Local train 1JPJ (second class unreserved only) departs Jaisalmer daily at 07:00 and is scheduled to arrive in Jodhpur at 13:00. It's a long journey, but fascinating (I've done it twice, in the opposite direction).

That provides a connection into train 2308 (JU HWH SUPFAST), which leaves Jodhpur at 20:00 and arrives Agra Fort at 06:35. Both of the afternoon express departures from Jaisalmer arrive in Jodhpur after that train has departed.

MfG - then this makes sense. The other thing is if you wanted a faster journey than the train suggested by Mickey S in the last post, you can always catch the bus. That train leaving Jod. at 20.00 sounds good - direct to Agra Fort. The Intercity from Jaisalmer would arrive in Jodhpur too late to connect, so it's either the local train or bus to catch it in time, if this is your choice.
