Direct & indirect train connection.

Hi guys,

I want to travel to the south part of India using trains and buses/coaches. On my way from Mumbai to Cochi and bank to Mumbai I would like to visit fallowing cities(not necessary in this order:
Hampi,
Mysore(the same day Sirangapatanam),
Trivandrum,
Aleppey,
Kumarakom,
Thekkady,
Munnar,
Cochi

I have been trying to find trains and buses but in many cases there is no direct connection(e.g from mumbai to Hampi first I should take train to Pune than to Hopset and finally local bus to Hampi, is that correct?)
When I am trying to find something between Mumbai and Hospet I can not. This booking system shows only direct connections it does not help me with changing trains in particular cities.

Please help me to find out which trains/buses/type of transportation should I use between locations I mentioned above.
I want to start 22.12.09(+/-2days) and finish 5.01.2010(+/- 2 days). I want to travel in sleeper class or AC sleeper class. I am desire to keep transportation cheep to have more money for touristic attraction like house boat etc.

I think it is high time to booking tickets so I will appreciate quick answers.

Would suggest you this route.

Mumbai - Cochin by train (you can visit Thekkady, Munnar also)
Cochin - Alleppey by train / bus (also visit Kumarakom)
Alleppey - Trivandrum by train / bus
Trivandrum - Bangalore by train
Bangalore - Mysore - Bangalore by train
Bangalore - Hospet by train
Hospet - Hampi by bus
Hampi - Hospet by bus
Hospet - Guntakal by train
Guntakal - Mumbai by train

As regards train, use erail.in. Sending you links for Hospet-Guntakal and guntakal-mumbai..

Once you firm up your plan with rough dates, will assist in case of any further need.

Should I take under consideration that it will be Christmas and new year time? Is schedule different for this period?

What do you think 15-17days are enough to visit all these places? I was thinking also about New Year eve in Goa? Could you suggest track which ends there?

I have not taken into consideration Christmas / New Year. But would like to inform you that availability of tickets is very difficult during this period.

If you want to visit Goa for New Years' eve, then I would suggest you to drop Mysore.. Get back to Madgaon / Goa from Trivandrum and visit Hampi and then go to Mumbai..

Suggest you do your homework with a proper itinerary.. Also, check the availability of seats - would suggest alternate routes if you dont get tickets.

If you don't mind buses.....

Mumbai-Raichur (Train 6381, CST 15:45, Raichur 05:42 has availability on 22nd in SL & 3A) Raichur-Hospet by bus (5 hours)

Or Mumbai-Bijapur (train 1329, CST 22:55, Bijapur 12:10 has availability in SL for 22nd.), then Bijapur - Hospet by bus (5 hours).

Then Hospet-Mysore by overnight bus.

Then Mysore-Cochin by overnight bus.

Then everything else.

www.etrain.in - it helps me a lot to do not go crazy with this trains and indirect connections...
We have checked connection and seats available and our results you can see below.
Unfortunately I can not find this direct bus from Hospet to Mysore, could you give me some link? We want to avoid going there and back to Bangalore.
Should we use redbus.in to travel in India or you can suggest some other carrier?

From Thekkady we are going to use local buses without previous reservation... I hope it is not madness? Where can I find schedule for local buses in Kerala...
