Hello all, I have heard that the priority of tatkal waiting list is more than then general waiting list. Can someone pls comment on this statement.

I have a tatkal ticket in Satyagrah express in sleeper class for tomorrow Nov 25th with status as
S# Booking Status Current Status
1 W/L 48 W/L 47
2 W/L 49 W/L 48

What do u guys think, will it get confirmed ?

Regards.

It's not true.

General quota cancellations will reduce the waitlist in the general quota only.

Tatkal quota cancellations will reduce the waitlist in the Tatkal quota only.

As there are far fewer Tatkal berths, and the tickets are booked only in the previous few days, the Tatkal waitlist will not move much as there are less chances of cancellations.

There are also many other quotas, and the tickets for those quotas are used to reduce the general waitlist if they're not used.

##Those in CKWL will have priority over GNWL on the vacancies that may arise in "earmarked quotas"; and whenever extra coaches are added those in CKWL will get preference over those in GNWL.

##Despite all this, I will never advise Tatkal Waiting List Ticket, because I have seen all those in GNWL getting into RAC whereas those in CKWL getting dropped.

Is this true of all trains that have both GNWL & CKWL?

If that is true, it's terrible, and very unfair.

Is it because of the Tatkal charge?

##This is what I have observed in respect of Trains that originate in HYB/KCG/SC. This 'could be' happening even in other Zones!!!!

##Presumably, yes!!!
=============================

##In the recent past we are coming across a different situations.

**When the Tatkal Quota is NOT utilised fully, and when there is GNWL, those in GNWL are being considered against such vacancies, which fact is also enshrined in the Rules.

**Now, think of those few Tatkal Ticket Holders, who will see everybody in GNWL getting confirmed and few more vacancies in Tatkal Quota - even after charting. Should they NOT be crying for having wasted amount towards Tatkal Fees?
-------------
**Nowadays, for some of the popular trains, we are seeing everybody in GNWL moving into Confirmed/RAC, without a single drop, whereas those in CKWL getting dropped during Charting, particularly for Sleeper Class.

You will get the full Refund on fare except the IRCTC charges and the bank/Credit card charges which you would have incurred.

##If it is a Waitlisted Ticket, an amount of Rs.20/- per passenger would be deducted towards "Clerkage".

The Quotas earmarked for specific categories, such as,
Senior Citizens/ Defence/EQ/Foreign Tourists/ Ladies.
-----
However, the berths earmarked for Ladies will NOT be allotted to Gents, even if they are vacant.

Guys i am curious if a tatkal ticket can't be canceled, so how come tatkal waiting list moves only when a tatkal ticket gets canceled. isn't there something wrong here in our understanding. Please enlighten me on how it works.
