Delhi train stations confusion

Hi. I am trying to work out my train timetable from Alwar to New Delhi. I would like to reach the New Delhi Train Station next to Paharganj.
When specifying search from Alwar to New Delhi - NDLS, Indian-Railways train search engine gives me trains going either to New Delhi (Stn Code: NDLS) or to Delhi (Stn Code: DLI). Can anybody please explain to me which of these stations is actually that New Delhi Train Station on my map?
Feeling lost - please help.

NDLS is New Delhi station (next to Paharganj)

DLI is (old) Delhi station, the Delhi metro has just opened a new line connecting (old) Delhi station with New Delhi station, it's only one or two stops on the metro, so any train to (old) Delhi station should also be OK.

You may find some trains from Alwar terminate at Delhi Sarai Rohilla station, I believe you can catch local trains from Sarai Rohilla station (code DEE) to both DLI and NDLS stations.

Is Nizamuddin (sp.?) different, or is this NDLS?

Hazrat Nizamuddin (station code NZM) is 7 Kms south of New Delhi train station and connected by regular local trains.

Nizamuddin is in South Delhi. It's a different station than the others mentioned above. New Delhi station is in central Delhi while old Delhi station is in north Delhi. Most trains coming from south India stop at Nizamudin before arriving at New Delhi (while for others Nzm is the destination).

There are several other smaller stations in Delhi like Sabzi Mandi, Azadpur, Delhi Cantt etc which may be starting points or destinations for some trains. But New Delhi, Old Delhi and Nizamudin are the three main ones.

More train confusion

Does anyone know where Delhi South Rohilla station is? I'm going from there to Kathgodam to Corbett National Park in the north.

Wendy

The Raniket Exp that departs Saria Rohilla at 22:00 calls at (old) Delhi station at 22:15 and stays there till 22:40.

However, if your hotel is in Karol Bagh, Sarai Rohilla may be more convenient.

Delhi Train Stations Confusion

Thanks Steven. Does this mean that Delhi South Rohilla listed on the Indian rail web site is actually Saria Rohilla?

There is no need to go to Kathgodam.

Train 5013 (the Kathgodam train) departs Sarai Rohilla daily at 22:00, gets to (old) Delhi station at 22:15, then departs at 22:40, splits into 2 trains at Moradabad station, one part goes on to Kathgodam, the other part (5013a) goes to Ramnagar (station code RMR) arriving at 05:00. (2A, SL.)

nzm to dli?

Hi,
I have a train arriving from Agra at 7:05PM at NZM. I hope to make an overnight train that leaves from DLI at 9:20PM. I'm assuming I'll have enough time to do this. I'm assuming taxi is the best way?

Also - anyone know if there is a place at Agra cantonment station to store my luggae while I tour the Taj?

Thanks!

I'm in danger of making a fool of mtself here.......

Is 2 hours and 15 minutes enough time to get from Nizamuddin to Delhi Station? yes.

Will you make it? no chance.

Sorry, can't give any more details.

The Indian Railway website isn't working, and I've looked through every timetable that includes trains from Agra to Nizamuddin, none arrive at 19:05 (plenty at 17:05).

So I'm left guessing.......

I know what time the short distance trains get to Delhi, and this isn't one of them, so it's a long distance train, so the question is.....Will the train get to Agra less than an hour late, probibly not.

Thanks for your help. Yes I was incorrect. The train would arrive at NMZ at 7:12pm and I hope to make the 2311 overnight to kalka at 10:20pm leaving from DLI.

I am arriving in Agra on the 2002 at 8:07am. I understand about the long distance trains being late. Should I try to find a oneway car for hire back to delhi?

Thanks!

OK, I've been given a further clue, the train arrives at Nizamuddin at 7:12pm (that means it almost certainly doesn't terminate at Nizamuddin).

Back to the timetables.......
