Delhi to Udaipur

Hi, Im new here after lurking for a while. I will be going to india early janurary and have about 2-3 weeks there. I have looked on the http://www.indianrail.gov.in/ site for trains from Delhi-Udaipur but the only train they have is overnight and takes about 12 hours and it seems it goes in a circle and back up to Udaipur. Having looked on Google earth it seems a about the same distance as Delhi-Agra. What gives?

Are there any direct links from delhi to udaipur? Also I am a bit confused what the difference between the Stations in Delhi are, like DEL, DEL CANTT, DEL MG etc. and where in Delhi they actually are.

Also how busy is it at that time of the year and what is the climate like then?

Cheers
Jon

Delhi to Agra is 200 Kms by both road and rail.

Delhi to Udaipur is 672 Kms by road and 744 Kms by rail.

Quote:
Train 2963, daily.

H. Nizamuddin (Delhi) 19:50, Faridabad 20:17, Mathura 22:40, Bharatpur 23:08, Sawai Madhopur 01:13, Kota Jn. 03:10, Chanderia (for Chittaurgarh) 06:00, Udaipur 08:30.

1A = Rs 2358
2A = Rs 1253
3A = Rs 814
SL = Rs 309

DEL = Delhi station (most call it Old Delhi, or Delhi Main) it is located in Old Delhi.

DEL CANTT = Delhi Cantt station and is located in south west Delhi.

DEL MG = Delhi Sarai Rohilla (I think), Delhi SR is the only Metre Gauge terminus in Delhi at the moment (for main line trains), the station is located just north of the Karol Bagh area.

NDLS = New Delhi station, arguably Delhi's main train station, located next to Paharganj.

NZM = Hazrat Nizamuddin, an important station for lots of trains (though not all) going south from Delhi, located 7 Kms south of New Delhi station.

BALMR = Bal Bhawan mini rail, A childrens mini rail situated just over a Km east of Connaught Place.

Delhi to Udaipur may be a little busy in early January, still loads of tourists about.

EDITED TO ADD - Everything? trust me, I get just as frustrated as everyone when trying to get info about Indian Railways, in fact I get even more frustrated - because I KNOW the information is there somewhere and still can't find it.
