What's the best way to travel from Delhi to Amritsar to Dehradun...

I will have a few suitcases too......where can I put these, knowing the rain space is limited

Depends on your budget. From Delhi to Amritsar you can take the nice Shatabdi train, which has a fair amount of luggage room. From Amritsar to Dehradun, I'm not too sure, though it is always possible to hire someone to just drive you there.

As Sadhu suggests, the Shatabdi is probibly the best option from Delhi to Amritsar, there are 2 daily Shatabdi's on this route...(I will give details of trains in both directions as the info may be useful to others)

Delhi - Amritsar

Train 2029 (2031 on wednesdays) departs New Delhi daily at 07:20 and gets to Amritsar at 13:10.

Executive Chair class (EC) = Rs 1165
Air Con Chair class (CC) = Rs 595

Train 2013 departs New Delhi daily at 16:30 and gets to Amritsar at 22:15.

EC = Rs 1215
CC = Rs 635

There are other daytime trains (I've not given details) and a couple of overnight trains.

Train 2903 departs New Delhi daily at 19:35 and gets to Amritsar at 06:15.

Train 330 departs Amritsar daily at 20:55 and gets to Haridwar at 08:45 (departs at 09:15) and gets to Dehra Dun at 11:50.

First Class (FC) = Rs 495 (not air con)
Sleeper Class (SL) = Rs 126 (not air con)

Dehra Dun and Haridwar - Amritsar.

Train 329 departs Dehra Dun daily at 19:10 and gets to Haridwar at 21:00 (departs at 21:25) and gets to Amritsar at 08:20.
