Suppose I book a ticket in a train from station A to E such that route of train is A-B-C-D-E.
Now if I left / de-board the train not at E but before the station E arrives, let's say I left the train at station D.
Will this be considered as illegal ? Will I be fined for this or is it okay and not comes under violence of Indian Railway ?
In my thought, I am doing any loss to the railways, I have paid extra money of which I traveled in this scenario. Please give your opinions.

No one checks the passenger tickets when disembarking, so how would they ever know. If the TTE sees the seat vacant, they will put some one in it if need be.
I did this once, although from 2cd class unreserved. I crawled off a Cochin to Mumbai train in Puna once in a state of exhaustion, just to book a room and get some much needed rest.

Tons of people do this especially when the train slows down before entering the station
A. to avoid crowds
B. closer to where they are going
C. they don't have a ticket
D. etc..

Also

E. because tickets were available on the general quota to station E, but weren't available to station D because it's a 'pooled quota' station.

Even if they check tickets as you're leaving the platform (happened to me twice), your ticket covers you up to station D, that's all their interested in.

I booked Kerala to Goa, but my Wife was getting bored of the journey as we approached Kumta station, I knew Gokarna wasn't far away, so we grabbed the bags and got off, I played a joke on my Wife and said we'll be in trouble for getting off at the wrong station, so as we approached a railway official I said to him "This is Goa, yes?", as is normal, he just smiled and we left the station, my Wife was relieved and thought the man was crazy.

As long as you get down at a station platform it's perfectly fine. Jumping off a slow train is illegal as well as a good opportunity to get some money from your life insurance policy
