Day Train to Pathankot

Hi everyone. I just arrived in India and the hotel where I am staying tells me there is no day trains to Pathankot. I am on my way to Dharamsala so they have arranged a bus ticket. This does not sound right to me. I tried going on Indian Railways but did not know code number.

Most trains for Pathankot leave after 9:00 pm from the New Delhi railway station. There is only one train listed on the Indian Railways site (Shalimar Express) that leaves in the evening at 16:05 Hrs from New Delhi and reaches Pathankot at 03:55 Hrs.

Check under "Train/Fare Accomodation" at the following site: http://www.indianrail.gov.in/

Give New Delhi as Source Station and Pathankot as Destination to get a list of all the trains. Hope this helps.

there are definately trains from delhi to pathankot. The best is the overnight jammu mail no. 4033, leaves daily at 21.10, arrives 07.35 the next morning. This is, imo, a much nicer way to travel to mcleod. The bus from pathankot takes 3 or so hours and gives u a good taste of the region...good luck!

There are probably no 'day' trains, but there are a number of overnight trains to Pathankot. The www.indianrail.gov.in has a link for "trains between major stations" on top left. This does not have Patahnkot, but all trains going to Jammu from Delhi pass through Patahnkot (or Chakki bank which is about 5 km from pathankot). Maybe this helps.

Malwa Express leaves Nizamuddin station at 0712 hours and reaches Chakki Benk at 1628 hours. The Train number is 2919 and 9367. Chakki Benk is an alternate station for P'kot and lies in Himachal Pradesh boundry.
