Cleartrip.com

Hi,

I've had major problems with the Indian Railways Reservation website. I have used it many times before and not had any problems but this year it doesn't seem to like UK credit cards.

I've found a website called Cleartrip.com who do train bookings. Does anyone know if this is a reputable company? Can anyone recommend anyone else?

I have been using Cleartrip for several years now. Very good service, no problems. I have got refunds several times without any hassles.

Cleartrip.com offers a better (clearer) interface to book than irctc.co.in although charges Rs.10 extra for booking in non-AC classes and Rs.20 extra for AC classes (each booking is one-way and holds a max of 6 passengers).

I never have had a problem getting my refunds on time from cleartrip as long as tickets were cancelled before the reservation chart preperation (which usually is 3-4 hrs prior scheduled departure).

The feedback on Cleartrip is mixed but majority of people who tried it seem to be happy with the quality of service.

In addition to Cleartrip, currently there are some other websites booking train tickets. These includes makemytrip, yatra and ezeego1.
