CKWL on Ticket. What does it mean?

Hello All

I booked my ticket on tatkaal recently for my journey on 26 may 2006 LATE EVENING. What I got is a ticket under waiting list mentioning CKWL. Ticket issuer told me that it shall be confirmed by the time the chart is prepared.

Can anyone shed more light on what does CKWL mean? Will it be confirmed? Is it different from PQWL?

If I want to cancel my ticket without attracting any penalty, by what time I can get it cancelled. My Journey is around 9:00 PM at 26 May 2006.

Dear Mr.Handa,

I am afraid, you have forgotten to mention the CLASS & TRAIN NUMBER!!!

If your CKWL Ticket fails to move into Confirmed Status during Charting, and if you cancel your ticket, per head Rs.20/- would be deducted from out of the total amount paid by you.

CK is a "Link" Code so presumably CKWL denotes the running waitlist number that is applicable to the specific "link" or roadside quota under which the ticket was booked.

Simplicity Itself

If you pool the data from the Quota Codes (posted by Nick)and IRFCA link posted by you - you get the answer

CK = Link Quota (thanks for the link Nick)

So CKWL = Link Quota waitlist.

However, without knowing the train the OP is using, it's too difficult to try to work out what it means.

Errrr... delving a bit deep into the IRFCA groups it seems that CKWL actually denotes the "Tatkal" wait list number.

Apparently tickets bought under the "Tatkal" scheme also has a waitlist associated with it.

Roadside Quotas are quotas alotted from and to intermediate (=roadside) stations, i.e. not only between the stations where the train starts and ends.

Now what is Safaiwala Quota (code SFW)????

EVER FELT frustrated over dirty toilets on a running train and the
coach attendants washing hands off till the train reaches the
station.You can now heave a sigh of relief.

In a move to ensure cleaning of toilets and coaches even while the
train is running, the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism
Corporation (IRCTC) has come up with the concept of 'travelling
safaiwalas' in all the important trains.

In an interview to HT Allahabad Live on phone, Chief Regional
Manager, IRCTC, Devesh Mishra said, the 'safaiwalas' would be
equipped with the mechanised system of cleaning. They would clean the
toilets on a regular basis. In addition to this, they would sweep the
coaches on demand. The 'safaiwalas' have been provided appropriate
uniform with protective aprons.

Initially the service has been started in trains including Pushpak
Express, Shivganga Express and some South-bound trains such as
Gorakhpur-Bangalore Express, Gorakhpur-Secundarabad Express and
Gorakhpur-Jammu Tawi Express.
