Dear Nirola,
Your observation:-
""can i book my ticet in sleeper 3 tier and childrens and wife in ac 3tier
or all in ac 3 tier and while returning from kolkota in rajdhani from sealdah Chair car""
---------------
@@@Then, you have to take a complete SL Ticket for the entire journey and your family a complete 3A Ticket. The ticket should be Uniform. When you perform journey by a Rajadhani, the difference between the Fare Paid and Fare Payable for that stretch will be collected from you.
================
Prima facie, your Route could be Ambala-Delhi-Renigunta-Arakkonam-Chennai-Khurda-Puri-Khurda-Bhubaneswar-Kolkatta-Ambala.

1. For a tailor made circular ticket you may have to apply to Rail Bhavan in Delhi. Atleast thats what we used to do although it is quite a few years back that we last did it.
2. Yes you cant have a mix of classes of travel.
3. I dont think there are chair cars in Rajdhani Exp. between Sealdah & Delhi.
4. After getting the circular pass permit issued by the Railways you may have to go to the booking office to get the pass issued & then reserve each journey separately.
5. Except in the case where no other rail connection exists you can not touch one place twice on your trip.
Hope this helps.

Wouldnt it be a big hassle to travel by chair car from Kolkata to Delhi specially with children? Since they are very young they wont be given seats I suppose.

I doubt you will be able to get the special pass made out in Ambala. Costing is done by calculating the total distance & the fare is calculated by the length of the diameter of the circle representing your trip.

Dear Nirola,
Please approach the Divisional Commercial Manager, Ambala alongwith a letter indicating the Route which you propose to take; indicate the Class in which you propose to travel;
---------
The Validity of your CJT commences from the day on which you enter the Train but not on the day when it is issued.
----------
You can reserve your tickets 60-64 days in advance depending upon the departure day of the train from the originating station; if you happen to board a train from an Intermediate Station, the period is counted from the day when the train departs from its Originating Station.
===============
Following is the approximate distance involved:
Ambala-New Delhi...........202Kms.
New Delhi-Gudur...........2050Kms.
Gudur-Tirupati.................94Kms .
Tirupati-Madras..............152Kms.
Madras-Khurda Road......1107Kms.
Khurda-Puri-Khurda.........126Kms.
Khurda-Howrah..............455Kms.
Howrah-Mughalsarai-
-Varanasi-Ambala...........1580Kms.
Total......................... ...5766Kms.
==================
@@@Please note you can avail 8 Break Journeys at any places of your choice.
---
@@@If you get down from a Train at 5.00 hrs. in the morning and take a connecting train in the night at 23.00 hrs., it will NOT amount to Break Journey.

Once they had a lot of standard routes pre-priced I am not too sure about now.
I have told you how the costing is done so by adding the distances between each stops find the total distance covered & then divide it by 3.14 & you get the diameter, but I think normal fare is then levied with out the telescopic feature.

Dear Nirola,
Kindly go through the following:-
-----
CIRCULAR JOURNEY TICKETS
General Information

If you wish to go on a pilgrimage or sightseeing trip to many destinations, Indian Railways provides the facility of booking Circular Journey Tickets. These tickets offer you unique travel flexibility, as they are issued for all journeys (other than regular routes), which begin and complete at the same station. Circular journey Tickets can be purchased for all classes of travel. A maximum of eight break journeys will be admissible on these tickets. Standard Circular Journey Tickets are also offered by Zonal Railways. These cover popular destinations for the Convenience of tourists. The details of route, fare etc., for these tickets can be obtained from nominated stations in each Zonal Railway. You can purchase these tickets if any one of the standard routes suits your convenience. Otherwise you can inform the Zonal Railways about your itinerary and Circular Journey Tickets can be drawn up to suit your requirements.

Advantages of Booking a Circular Journey Ticket

Circular Journey Tickets give you the benefit of telescopic rates, which are considerably lower than regular point to point fare. With these tickets, you not only save time but also the inconvenience of booking ticket at each leg of the journey.

Booking Procedure of Circular Journey Ticket

1. Once your itinerary is finalized, you can approach the Divisional Commercial Manager of the Division of certain major stations to which the journey commencing station belongs. The Divisional Commercial Manager or the station authorities will then calculate the cost of the tickets based on your itinerary. He will also inform the Station Manager of the same in a prescribed format.

2. You can purchase Circular Journey Tickets by presenting this form at the Booking Office of the station where you propose to start your journey. After purchasing the Circular Journey Ticket, you must approach the Reservation Office to reserve your accommodation for various laps of your journey. You will then be issued reserved journey ticket for the journey.

3. No Standard Circular Journey Tickets are issued by Southern Railways, only non-standard Circular Journey Tickets as per the itenary given by the passengers are issued by the Southern Railways. A Circular Journey Ticket is charged for as two single journeys, the length of each single journey being taken as half of the total distance.

4. 30% concession is granted on the cost of the Circular Journey Tickets for Senior Citizens when travelling a minimum distance of 1000 kms.

Dear jyotirmoy,
Kindly look at this:-
---
""A Circular Journey Ticket is charged for as two single journeys, the length of each single journey being taken as half of the total distance.""
----------
@@@In the instant case, the total distance is coming to 5766 Kms. If you divide this by two, you will get 2833 Kms. So you have to pay for 2833 Kms. twice, but not for the whole 5766 Kms.

Dear Nirola,
Your observation:-
""some other advices awaited including calculation of fares by both ways""
----------
@@@The CJT will be for a particular Class of Travel but not for different classes in different stretches.
------
@@But if you desire to travel either in a class which is higher than the class for which the CJT is originally issued OR in a higher category trains such as Shatabdhi or Rajadhani, you will have to pay the difference between the Fare which you have paid at the time of purchase and the Fare Payable for journey for such higher category train.
(**I will give the exact position tomorrow)
-------------
@@@However, if you approach the DCM, Ambala, then, presumably, all your doubts will be cleared. If they can't, don't hesitate to revert back to me. To the best of my ability, I will clear your doubts.
