Question checking train arrival times -and waiting rooms at Madurai

I will be travelling from Delhi to Madurai by train . Due to arrive at 4.00am Is there anyway people meeting me can check if the train is running on time. I don't want them getting up early if train is going to be hours late.

Also has anyone experience of the waiting rooms at Madurai Junction station, which would be best for a woman alone .
Thanks.

http://www.trainenquiry.com/ is a website that is said to give 'real-time' info on trains, but I've never tested it, so don't know how reliable it is.

At the moment I can't even get onto the site to re-check how it works, but I'm sure you just enter the train number (2652), the date (check if it's departure date or arrival date), and the station (Madurai), then the site tells you the time the train arrived, or is expected to arrive.

If you use this website, let us know how accurate it is.

It is fairly accurate, but mostly useless since the data updated is not as real time as we would like.

Anyway for them to figure out a 4 AM arrival, they would need to check close to midnight, so it should be OK.

By the way, it would be quite a challenge to figure out the correct day to select esp in long distance trains which travel over 36 hours.

Not at all intuitive.

Isn't there an automated enquiry number in most cities (was it 133? I don't remember)?

thanks for replying, oops I know its in wrong forum!!!!!!

Thanks for your various replies. I hope the people meeting me can use some of this, they need to travel a couple of hours to Madurai and I would hate them to arrive hours early for a late train.

wrong forum? It was my first post and I know it was wrong. Can you change a post to another forum if you make a mistake or do you just cancel the post- in case I mess up again!

if you're travelling in A/C, go to the First Class Ladies' Waiting Room; I've never been refused entry, and it's a bit more comfortable than the 3rd Class waiting room when you've been travelling all night.

A few rupees will get you a soap and towel for a quick shower... always nice when you get off the train.
